The looming WGA strike could be the best thing that ever happens to fans of Battlestar Galactica. Though the fourth and final season of the cult hit finally has a start date (April 4, 2008), Sci Fi network programming exec Mark Stern admits that only 10 episodes are scheduled to air, followed by a mid-season hiatus that could delay the final batch until 2009. But here’s the twist: If the pending writers strike puts the bulk of Sci Fi’s slate on hold next year, the network could air the last Battlestar episodes — most of which are already written — through next summer. Talk about taking advantage of Hollywood’s misfortune: What will those wily Cylons think of next?
