ABC announced today that Jimmy Kimmel will follow in the footsteps of Jay Leno and Conan O’Brien and return to the air on Jan. 2. Kimmel released this statement: “Though it makes me sick to do so without my writers, there are more than 100 people whose financial well-being depends on our show. It is time to go back to work. I support my colleagues and friends in the WGA completely and hope this ends both fairly and soon.”
In a perfect world, Jimmy, Jay, Conan and Dave would stay off the air until the end of the strike, it’s understandable that they want to keep their loyal non-writing staff and crew from being fired over a fight they have very little to do with. They’ve all waited two months, and have been true gentelmen.
I hope they spend their time on air to badmouth the AMPTP and the fact that the heads of the studios would rather put thousands out of work than come back to the table and make a reasonable deal (and a cheap one too if you look at what the writers are asking for.)

Yeah, I really feel bad for the behind the scenes people. And I think it was nice for these hosts to continue to pay these people for as long as they have. I know they make a lot of money, and they have the resources to do so, but not everyone would do this (check out the typical CEO who gets a $20 million raise and cuts jobs in the same breath).
