Amy Winehouse won't attend Grammys but will perform

Winehousegrammys_l
A music executive close to the Grammys said Amy Winehouse’s visa has been denied but she will still perform at this Sunday’s show via satellite. Winehouse, who is up for multiple awards including album and record of the year and best new artist, will also accept her award via satellite if she wins.

A rep for Winehouse announced earlier today that her request for a U.S. visa was denied by the U.S. Embassy. “Amy has been progressing well since entering a rehabilitation clinic two weeks ago and although disappointed with the decision has accepted the ruling and will be concentrating on her recovery,” her publicist said in a statement. In October, the troubled singer was arrested and fined in Norway for possession of marijuana. She says she will appeal that charge in a Norwegian court. The singer, known for her alleged drug use and erratic behavior, was also seen in a recent video circulating the Internet smoking an unknown substance from a glass pipe.

It was just mentioned on another board that Mary J. and Janet are boycotting, not attending the Grammys bec they weren’t asked to perform. Makes sense, esp. when you consider that Amy will be performing even if by satellite.
It’s interesting how the industry is such a big enabler. That woman needs to go into rehab and stay there for a long time, I don’t care how talented she is – which I don’t understand. Where’s the talent?

It is really for the best for her not to travel. Get healthy. That is the priority. Get clean

  • To Sally

    You’re an idiot.

Is she gonna sing “Rehab”? That would be ironic.

Our country is so hypocritical when it comes to drugs and drug use. We’ve had 2 young stars fall to drug use recently ,and the parade of entertainers recently marching into rehab is mind boggling. Not to mention the many Amy’s out in society unable to get help. This country denies a visa to attend a music ceromony. Does this stem the drug flow. No. A large portion of the Grammy audience will have or will used a drug of some type on Saturday night or that Sunday, or will be under the influence a chemical legal or not legal during the ceramony. Music and drugs are synomous. Always have and always will.
Concerning Mary J. and Janet- they will be in the audience. Makes no sense to boycott – Mary J. is a big Amy supporter. Read her Article in the recent Interview Magazine about music and where Amy Winehouse fits into the future of R and B. That’s an eye opener!

I’m just wondering if she’ll be performing from the rehab rec hall? Maybe there could be an audience of fellow patients. Heck, record it and make the next “Live From Folsom”.

In response to Sally in Chicago, Amy has realized she has a problem and doing something about it. Did you ever think that this opportunity may help her realize she doesn’t need drugs or alcohol to get through a performance? As far as where her talent is, try listening to her CD’s, both lyrics and music, you’ll find it there.

Thank God that Amy has come out the otherside, relatively unscathed.
Let’s hope that she stays clean and continues to make the incredible music she’s capable of.
Congratulations Amy on your recovery and I hope you keep up your hard but great work on that recovery.
    Cheers!!

Haha are you kidding me look at her lyrics?…..i have heard better lyrics from fourth graders. I hope she overcomes her problem but its ridiculous to make her out to be a victim here. Honestly I agree i dont see the talent you guys are talking about. Rehab should win an award for the worst song of the year that wasnt the lipgloss song
