More details are emerging about Madonna’s new album. Nate “Danja” Hills and Timbaland, who co-produced Justin Timberlake’s FutureSex/LoveSounds, are co-producing some tracks on Madonna’s yet-to-be titled album and Danja tells EW.com that the pop queen’s next effort is “very up-tempo, upbeat and urban — it’s a Virginia-based sound.” Madge was joined in the studio by another influential Virginian, Pharrell Williams, but Danja emphasizes that the album’s urban edge doesn’t mean the 49-year-old star has lost her pop cred. “It’s everything rolled into one,” he says. “It’ll be a classic album.” As previously reported here, Timbaland and Timberlake will appear in the video for Madonna’s first single, “4 Minutes to Save the World.” The album is slated for an April debut. The single drops in March.

Funny–when I think of Virginia, “urban” isn’t the first thing that pops to mind (or vice versa).

Sounds like Bedtime Stories 2.0. Can’t wait!

Thank you for the info! We’re very much looking forward to the new single and album. It’s going to be a very big Madonna year with the new album, tour, 25th anniversary, 50th birthday and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction!

When exactly was the moment when “drop” entered the cultural lexicon as the universally accepted verbiage to indicate when new music will be released? I’m guessing somewhere around ’98-’99. Anyway, it still sounds as idiotic today as it did then. It sounds like you’re talking about a turd or a testicle or something, “When is it going to drop…” Can everyone please just go back to saying it will “be released” or “hit stores”? Thanks.

Madonna is looking as old as Lillian Gish, and Lillian Gish is dead.

Alan, both Danja and Pharrell are from Hampton Roads, which is the nation’s 30th largest urban area. You are right to think the vast majority of the state is rural though.

Scott. You’re showing your age. “Hit stores” sounds real square there buddy. I think Rod Stewart albums “hit stores” Madonna’s albums drop baby!

Thank goodness Madge had the good taste to choose Timbaland. Timbaland is a hitmaker with OneRepublic, Justin Timberlake, Nelly Furtado. He’s got talent.
Had she chosen Will I Yam,I’d be annoyed. The Black Eyed Peas are EVERYWHERE-stumping for Barack Obama, dueting with Celine Dion, singing for Live Earth&Princess Diana’s memorial concert, opening for the Dave Matthews Band, remixing Michael Jackon’s “Thriller.” It’s about time they retired!

Hmm….. employing rnb/hip hop hitmaker Timbaland and J.T…. I guess Madonna is sooo desperate to gain RNB fans and her lost chart-topping glory. I love her music but this musical stunt reeks of desperation to be hip/cool and “now” Come on Madge, Mimi has the RnB-Pop niche tucked safe between her 2 puppies and we prefer you stick to dance/pop/electronica. And why, pray tell that you have 2 songs entitle Forbidden Love – 1 in bedtime stories and the other on confessions on the dance floor? I like them both but you should double-check your catalog of songs even if both song are good. hehehe

Hmmm..wasn’t it Piggy herself (Mariah) who hired every rapper in the business to score a hit? So what if Madonna wants to be current / now? Also, she has done r&b before so it’s not like it’s something new.

I love me some Madonna. Can’t wait
