Kate Walsh returning for an episode of 'Grey's Anatomy'

The redhead is back at Seattle Grace! ABC has confirmed that Kate Walsh, whose freshman show Private Practice is on hiatus until fall, will return to Grey’s Anatomy as Dr. Addison Montgomery for one episode this spring. Executive Producer Shonda Rhimes is still fleshing out the script, so there’s no word yet on when Walsh’s episode will air. ABC will air five originals of Grey’s beginning April 24.

The last time Addison was seen walking the hallways of Seattle Grace was in the series debut of Practice, which is this season’s second most-watched new drama (10.76 million). In the Practice pilot, Addison said goodbye to Seattle Grace to start a new life and career at the Oceanside Wellness Center in Southern California.

    SWEET!

  • Steve

Wish Addison was back to stay!!

  • Jen

Why would Addison want to go back to dreary Seattle ? Last we saw she went to meet HotCop! for a date !
And a couple of days ago you posted an article denying a return !
Maybe they realise that Greys has been crap since Addie & Burke left. I’d rather see Addie stay in LA though.

FINALLY! I have a reason to watch Grey’s Anatomy again!

  • junior

Why can’t she do both? Both “Grey’s” and “Practice” need a strong woman. Love Kate.

  • Matt

I might have to tune into Greys again.
Good ratings ploy by Shonda, bringing back the most popular character for a one-off.

  • Lucy

I love Kate Walsh & will follow her anywhere.
I’d rather it was not back to boring Greys, but I will suffer in silence for an Addie-fix before Fall.

  • Claire

uhm..yeah, Kate Walsh was the most popular character on Grey’s, wait a second…..no she wasn’t. There are new shows with higher ratings than Private Practice was getting before the strike and let’s face it, PP isn’t exacly lighting any crtics fires. Walsh is okay on it, but I wouldn’t exactly say she’s in a star making show now. Besides that, Dempsey has had TWO hit films, just went to the Oscars and is certainly the most popoular character on Grey’s…Sorry to call you on that, but you know you are wrong there.

Claire – Kate was chosen for her own show, enough said.
And do your homework – PrP is the 2nd highest rated new show this yr – even beating old hits like Ugly Betty. It’s seen off the competition Bionic Woman already. It may not be liked by male TV critics (not that they are the demographic anyway), but then Greys has been slated this season so what do you expect ?
Greys is an ensemble with the strength being it’s supporting players – hence them picking up all the awards. Funny that PD or EP never win anything, other than most arrogant star for Patrick ! He may be the favorite with housewives & teenage girls, but he’s no way near an actor of Hugh Laurie’s talents.
People are sick of recycled storylines & on/off Mer/Der teenage boredom.
ABC recognised Addie & Kate Walsh’s popularity by giving her a spin-off, now they are using her as a ratings ploy during a boring season to boost ratings. Smart move !

  • Tara

I will watch Greys again just for Kate :)
I love that woman. Girl crush ahoy !

  • Shari

I pray to GOD this means they have tossed that Big Toothed Plot Device Nurse Who Shall Not Be Named Because Her Storyline is Too Contrived to Merit It.
    I LOVE ADDIE.
And Claire, seriously, arguing over whose more popular? Gimme a break! Its all opinion, so you “calling” someone “out” is neither here nor there.

  • seattle pride

Why would Addison come back to “dreary” Seattle? Well, it’s 65 and sunny here today! Plus McDreamy, McSteamy are here, as opposed to the “Stepford” docs she’s been working with in Cali.

  • Sara

Ahhh. My dream come true. I hate PP, but I love Addison on Greys. I would LOVE if they did something more with her and Alex, although they kind of ruined that wonderful pairing. I can’t wait to watch Greys, and I never thought I would say that (ever again).

  • Eve

    I totally 100% agree with Claire !
Of course Patrick is the most popular star of the show, duh, no doubt about that !!
And I think it’s great she’s coming back to Seattle Grace, even if it’s just for 1 ep. I wish she’d stay tho, she was pretty amazing !

  • mole

Great, now I will have to watch GA this year. I haven’t watched since Addison left. I did try once, but it was too boring. I do like Private Practice. Maybe Addison will be on both shows.
