Drew Carey's 'Price Is Right' ratings are soft, but should grow

There has been no shortage of contestants willing to line up for hours outside of CBS Television City in Los Angeles to appear on The Read the full post.

I don’t watch TPIR anymore. I can’t stand to see Drew Carey not wearing a tie. He looks like a fat slob with just a jacket, no tie, and his shirt collar unbuttoned. Is it too much to wear a tie for a couple of hours a week? He really can’t compare with Bob Barker, who always looked and acted like a gentleman. Also, the new games aren’t cleaver anymore. They are really simple, dumbed-down games with only a fifty-fifty chance of winning. I’m just not interested.

I cannot stand Drew Carey – will someone please tell him to stop saying words or names over and over again. Doesn’t know the games, confuses the contestants, is NOT funny. Howie Mandel would have been a wonderful choice or the gentleman who hosts Family Fued. Anyone but Drew!

You say yu want to climb on Drew’s back?? You really like him hey, you think he is funny? NOT!!! You dont get out much do you? Drew sucks!!! End of story.

I love Drew, he is out of place on this show. What made TPIR so good is the connection of host and contestants. Bob was engaging and smooth, I know you need to give a person a chance, but watching Drew is like watching paint dry. Now if they want to replace him, I would tear this show up, call me Price is right

Drew is so hard to watch..absolutely NOT right for this job.

I absolutely think Drew is a breath of fresh air. He is down to earth and doesn’t seem to me to be at all disinterested. The fault to me is that the contestants are going just a little bit crazy and trying to outdo even Drew. Their jumping around and leaping on prizes really needs to stop – it will if someone gets hurt and there is a lawsuit and let it not go that far. Drew can draw the best out of people without them going nuts on the stage to put on a show. It ruins it for me. Drew hopefully does like the show even if it is not his arena of choice and I hope he stays for a long time but instead of hugging some of these contestants – sit on them!

Something that strikes me about 3 years worth of comments about Drew…is it EW readers or TPIR fans, but the majority of respondants have no concept of spelling or basic grammar. I’ll credit the anti-Drew comments to the laziness of their writers.

Drew has improved greatly as host, and yes, the show is targeting a refreshing younger demographic without forgetting about older viewers. The set? C’mon, you really think that tacky 1970′s/80′s set shouldn’t be updated a little? It’s still very retro, CBS wanted a “Millionaire” style set. Tell me if that wouldn’t hurt your head. Drew not wearing a tie and changing his hair and glasses? Drew looks very contemporary, and I’m sure as his career progresses, he wants to leave his past persona behind. Also, in case you haven’t noticed, few professionals wear ties any longer, it’s what’s in style folks. Bob dressed like your grandfather, his wardrode contained more polyester than should be legally allowed. The prizes are much more current than the prizes in the Barker era, very tech saavy with fewer ugly grandfather clocks. Drew is hip to technology, I have a feeling Bob couldn’t operate a clock radio much less a computer. Also, in what I assume is a move to reflect the tastes of todays consumers, imported cars are prizes. The “granny” cars that were a staple are now infrequent prizes making way for BMW’s, Hyundai’s, Nissans and Porsche’s.

You know people, the core and concept of the show still remain. But anyone who doesn’t think it needed a jolt to bring it into this century is sadly nostalgic.
Drew is not perfect, he still mumbles too much and I wish he would drop the “spayed and neutered” tagline, it’s not his cause. Drew, please choose a concern and plug that with a catchy phrase.

Yes, I liked Bob despite his arrogance and disdain for contestants, but his run has passed and I feel that the show had become stagnant with him.
Ask yourself who would you rather bump into at a bar and have a couple drinks with, Drew or Bob? Based on that scenerio, Drew is welcome into my house at 11:00 daily.

Who on earth wants Bob Barker ? ? Meanwhile, Drew was not a good replacement. Like you said, he mumbles his words too much. Send Drew home and let Bob stay at home. Replace them both !

The contestants that are called down to the ‘podium’ should not be able to bid a one dollar differace than there opponents. There should be a rule about that. Like make them bid at least a fifty dollar differance.

Drew is simply not the person to host the show. He does not have the personality and game show host quality. He speaks too fast, I cannot understand most of what he says. Of all the people to choose from, why on earth did they choose him.
