David Hernandez apparently quit stripping once Idol came around. I’m sure he knew that his past job would come out (no pun intended) eventually… but he’s handled it very well, very maturely, and I applaud him for it. He’s improved a lot already in the competition, and I look forward to hearing him sing for weeks to come.
Now, why Antonella, after defacing the WWII monument, was allowed to stay in the competition is beyond me… *there’s* where the double-standard is. Think about it: the voluptuous Frenchie was kicked out, yet the more “marketable” Antonella was allowed to stay…

First season’s Nikki had been a stripper as well too but stayed–way past her time at that. It’s not so much a double standard as it is one REALLY bad decision on the producer’s part in season 2. To my recollection they haven’t dumped someone for a risque past (just violent…) since.

What his job was before he got on Idol is none of our business & whoever it is who looks for dirt about the contestants should be locked in a room somewhere every year for the duration of the show. The only thing that is important is for Idol to check & make sure they aren’t felons who could put the others in danger. They should all be judged on their talent & nothing else

If most Americans weren’t so puritanical and wrapped up in their self righteous cloaks of being “Christians” and shoving their religion down everyones’ throats then this would not be an issue. There isn’t a person in the world who can stand up and be accounted before some mythical deity and claim that they are perfect. Not a single one unless that is an infant who can’t speak. This whole snooping up everyones’ a**es is disgusting. Live and let live and let the guy win or lose. His private life is his business. And if anyone has ever lived in dirt poor Arizona where they pay slave wages (I know I lived there 11 years) then you know you will do what it takes to survive.

That was hardly the article I was expecting with a headline. He broke his silence with a couple of sentences? Pfft. I was expecting something a little more substantive. But I must keep telling myself, this is the wrong place for that. Glad to see him carry on into the top 12, I don’t think he’ll win, but I liked the photos. :)

frenchie and david are not the same situation. she was paid to be nude on the internet. any kid could find it if they wanted. now if there are nudes of david on the net and he signed a release approving their use, he should go and if he doesn’t, there’s a double standard that should be discussed. david’s situation is the same as nikki’s.

What a way to softball it, EW. Why didn’t you ask him why he didn’t disclose this to the producers, the judges and the audience? Why was he stripping in the first place? I don’t want my kids to vote for a stripper!

Will everyone shut up already about American Idol, worst show ever and all of them this season stink.

  • Shari Weller

Everyone makes their mistakes, and learns from them.

    Ban all Whitney songs forever.
Why do all the girls suck this year??

  • Patricia

Good for you! I hope the media gets it…Everything is not a F-ing story to make a scandle out of. Sing on! That is what American Idol is about!

  • Jen

To Tooth Fairy: Whoever said that he didn’t disclose it to the producers?

like i said before, only the media cares about this non-event.
