They always send Simon out to do ultimate damage control. With all the publicity this year that “Simon has a heart”, out comes the real Simon….all EGO. I do think he threw the critics a bone by panning the songwriting contest. But, he only seems to be panning it because he would like the finale song to bring him more money. It’s nothing about the contestants. No surprise.
Simon2…..LOL! I’d pay you millions to keep posting on this site. Laahved It!
Of course she made a mistake. The question is – what did that mistake reveal? I could ALMOST buy that she just confused Jason’s and David Cook’s performances, as she said, if she hadn’t turned around and said David’s was “fantastic”. If it had been a poor performance for Jason wouldn’t it have been equally poor for David??
What if Jason did a terrible job during dress rehearsal, but stepped it up and did a great job during the performance? Would Paula’s critique still apply? This is ridiculous. The contestants should be judged on the performance, not the rehearsal.
Are we supposed to just gobble up the excuse that those were notes from the dress rehearsal???Really??? Then what was that “it’s for DAvid Cook?” alibi? Why then did she say in an interview that she had to hurry up and make notes because she was taken by surprise when the contenstants were brought out from the stage to be critiqued for their performance? She implied she made the notes right there, during the live performance. And now they’re saying it’s from the dress rehearsal??! Even that excuse has impropriety written all over it. WTH? Since when has it been right to judge someone based on a performance on a rehearsal? Don’t they know the meaning of REHEARSAL??!! Pulleeezzz, AI can’t even come up with one decent excuse. That’s what happens when their evil deed blow up in their faces. Even all of you who try to justify what Paula and AI did to Jason Castro are despicable. You should be ashamed of yourselves. Jason was panned even before he sang. That was disrespectful, cruel and rude.
Castro–”I’m JarJar Binks. Help me”
Quick question, how many of you prior posters work for F19 and American Idol. I can pick out most of your posts right away. Hint, don’t be the first one or two to respond. The Spin is in!
Paula needs to apologize. Her negative comments were made on a performance she had not fully heard. She was seating and visiting with her guest at dress rehearsal. She said she heard about a minute of the song. Also, Paula apparently was not paying attention during the live show since she did not know he had not sung twice. She’s getting paid to pay attention and give fair critiques of the actual performances. Catching a minute of a song while you talk with your guest at a rehearsal and then giving a negative review based upon that is not fair. It would not matter if it had been done to any other contestant, I still would think that an apology would be needed.
Had Paula just apologized right then and there or the next day, this would have blown over sooner. Lying and making excuses are making fans angry.
The judges declared months ago that it would be a David vs David finale. They are trying to make sure that that happens not matter who they have to throw under the bus.
Why are the judges allowed to judge on dress rehearsal performance. If that was the case, then Brooke should have been judged on her performance on Andrew L.Weber week where she didn’t forget her lyrics and start over. Paula’s mistake made it more then clear on who they want off the show and how they want a David vs. David finale. The attitude now from the producers on how great, because of Paula’s slip up, that everyone is talking about the show and Simons “No need to apologize to Jason” is sickening. I hope the other networks next season start putting their stronger shows up against A.I. to start knocking the ratings down even further.
oh, ffs. the only people who care anymore are the scary jason fans. they’re so scary they even weird out jason!!!
What has been overlooked in this debacle is that Jason, unlike the remaining 3 contestants, has had no prior stage experience. He sang for an audience a total of 5 times before going on AI, which makes him a true amateur. The others have had vast experience either on tv or recording cd’s, which makes them seasoned performers. When Paula panned Jason’s performance BEFORE he ever sang, it seriously undermined his confidence because he lacks the experience needed to let it not affect him. He still performed admirably, even tho he’d been seriously ill the week before and was not yet well. This was kept under wraps at HIS request because he didn’t want pity votes (unlike Cook’s trip to the ER weeks before which made HEADLINES). Jason deserves credit for even remaining onstage after such a hatchet job. HE kept his composure, remained respectful and smiled thru the whole assassination. Jason has dignity, unilke AI where if it weren’t for LOW class, there wouldn’t be NO class at all.
this was our first year to watch Idol, and it is because of Jason Castro that we watch…. After all is said and done, we will not watch again…. thanks fox for letting paula abdul make my 8 year old feel like his votes don’t matter..
He should have added that Paula should have said to Brooke that she feels her pain now. ANYWAY – How come I cry every time I read about Brooke’s ouster? I know, based on these boards, that seeminly everyone is happy, but I’m in a total Brooke depression….Slezak’s Idolatry currently up now – so good. As usual. Love it!! Adam – you’re working hard this week, wassup?
What is Simon supposed to say, Yes, Paula has messed up the show. Yes, Paula is do drugged she cannot remember someone singing once or twice. Yes, Paula was reading scripted comments. Yes, Paula owes Jason an apology, GET REAL!!. Of course he has to defend her. There is no other option available to him or the producers.
Even this call from the “so called old love” of Simon’s was what is called “DIVERSIONAL TACTICS”. Try and create new headlines and hope the press forgets about yesterday’s blunder
