I’ So Disapointed In Arista For Dropping Blake. I Love His Cd. I Thought The Single “How Many Words” Had Airplay Potential. But Since No One At The Record Label Had Any Enthusiasm To Promote It, The Song And The Album Will Never Live Up To What It Could Have Been.
I feared this would happen particularly after Katharine, Taylor and Ruben were dropped. It could have done better had the right songs (“Gots to Get Her” and “Surrender” or “Hate 2 Love Her”) been submitted for airplay. P.S. Not surprised they would drop that many before season 7 began.
Blake will resurface as an independent. 300,000 copies is a success.
The whole beat-boxing thing was a cheap novelty rip-off that sounded “fresh” on Idol compared to the boring ballads that most contestants sing. A whole album of that is a tough sell in this day and age. Blake has been acting like an arrogant d-bag and predicted he’d sell 5 million records. Epic failure! Wiki-wiki-fool!
clayfan4archie: Your not serious, right, David Cook gone in a year! Gimme a break, David Cook will out sell Archie hands down, remember TWEENIES grow up and forget all about their once end all’s!
clayfan4archie and CyekiM:
I’m a teen and I definitely pick David Cook over Archuleta. Archuleta will fade because his songs will be boring, corny ballads that his fans won’t enjoy. All the girls who luv him will soon only luv him for his looks.
I was not surprised at all that Blake Lewis was dropped. I liked him during AI and he was clearly the favorite (even over Jordin Sparks) during the tour. I eagerly anticipated his album; however I decided to listen to the samples of his songs on iTunes and didn’t like the CD at all. He didn’t get any promotion for the album and I never heard him get any airplay. What I think killed him was choosing his single as Break Anotha which brought meaning to the word ADD. His performances on stage was in fact embarrassing to watch as he hopped and jumped like a monkey all over the stage. He stayed “true” to his Seattle crowd and didn’t “sell out” but they are probably the only people who bought the album. I downloaded 2 songs and frankly I wasted $1.98. Blake did this album “his way” and discovered that the people who voted for him didn’t get what they expected from his first CD.
Hahaha, he predicted he’d sell 5 million records…Well, how’s that treating you, Blakey? hahaha You know when you have the urge to f@rt? And you know the sm.ell? That’s what Blake sounds like. An awful, stinky f@rt. My Grandpa can beat box better than him…”Pull my finger…”
I never like him! He’s common and ordinary! The only reason why the judges liked him so much was becasuse they had to root for a guy in season 6, but there was no good guy from that season at all. I wanted to throw up after he outlasted Melinda Doolittle.
Hi guys… My name is Matt… I’m so sorry about what happened to Blakey… So sad! I reallyreallyreally loved his song Break Anotha and How Many Words! Arista what’s wrong with you!
I watch American Idol. I enjoy American Idol. There is NO WAY I would ever buy any of their music. Just all too cheesy. Take this show for what it is: cheap entertainment, NOT serious music.
What REAL choice was there in Season 6? All the “talent” was really bad. Sanjaya made a mockery of the show which it richly deserves. Thankfully, Nigel Lithgoe is leaving to produce his corny dance show so maybe there is a chance that A.I. will improve and get a touch of class and some remarkable talent. Blake was a joke and still is. Who could stand to listen to his stuttering, moronic beat box style more than once?
At least Jordin Sparks has a singing voice that, once she is given decent material to record, will hopefully put out a record worthy of her vocal range.
I never got why this dude made it so far — must’ve just been the beatboxing that set him apart. Take that away (please!) and you’ve got a guy with a very ordinary voice. That doesn’t mean that everything he’s done is terrible, not saying that, but there’s so much competition out there and so many WAY WAY more talented singers than Lewis. I wish him well, but he does nothing for me.
Sorry, to hear that about Blake. I’m sure it’s for the best though. maybe being on a smaller, more independent label will allow him to be a true “artist”. He’s a talented guy as well as a great person, having met him. To the person who commented that all the Idol albums are garbage- first of all, that’s silly and stupid. If, for no other reason than the quality of the people they bring in to work with the Idols, the albums I’ve heard from most of the Idols are very decent. The one artist who’s albums stand alone from what that person posting had in mind, though, is Fantasia. Both her albums are FANTASTIC–showing a true artist way beyond an Idol star and have been 7 times Grammy nominated. If you don’t own them you need to get them. And this is from a person who knows and listens to many types of music being in the biz. Good luck Blake and long live Fantasia!
