Bunim-Murray in talks with 'Project Runway'

Project Runway
meets…The Real World? Bunim-Murray Prods, the company behind the long-running MTV series and the more recent Living Lohan, is in serious negotiations to take over Runway once it moves from Bravo to Lifetime this fall, according to a key insider. The producing gig opened up in May after Dan Cutforth and Jane Lipsitz of Magical Elves announced they were stepping down from Runway after season 5 (beginning July 16) because they signed an exclusive first-look deal with NBC/Universal. News of their deal came less than a month after Lifetime announced that it nabbed future seasons of Runway away from Bravo. Cutforth and Lipsitz had been responsible for the award-winning Runway since its inception.

great. now we can say goodbye to project runway as we know it.

Oh man. I wasn’t hopeful about the Runway to Lifetime thing, but I was willing to give it a chance. But this is bad.

Are they trying to kill Project Runway? There really couldn’t be worse news for this show. The Lifetime move was already pretty idiotic. Here’s hoping Tim Gunn refuses to be a part of any such hot mess (as he says so well!) and they back out.

Project Runway meets Real World?? How’s that work? No, really? No pun intended. 1st a Lifetime special now a MTV seasonal crazy people house. And honestly, I really, really love Project Runway. The only show that compares is Bravo’s Top Chef! Crap reality tv sucks! I still ask-who’s brilliant idea was this?!?!? Do they just want to lose $$ and credibility?!?!

The LA thing, the Lifetime move, the switch to Marie Claire instead of Elle, the loss of Magical Elves, and now….BUNIM MURRAY????? Are they going to put a hot tub in the workroom? Good grief. This is going to be AWFUL. Guess i’ll have to really enjoy this next season, because it’ll be the last as we know it.

I used to like REAL WORLD, but each season has gotten worse and worse. The current “Hollywood” season is awful. I watched the first episode just to see what it was all about, and it was a trainwreck! Sorry to all the PROJECT RUNWAY fans, the producers of RW taking over is horrible news!

How to ruin the best reality show on TV:
    1) Change networks from one with a great reputation for high quality reality TV to one with no reputation for quality reality TV because your exec. producers need to make more money
    2) Get rid of the producers responsible for five great seasons of PR and hire producers responsible for some of the worst reality TV out there
    3) Watch What Happens!

I didn’t even know they were switching networks. I HATE Lifetime! It’s anathema for men (and this is coming from a guy who openly enjoys Bravo.) Who allowed this to happen in the first place? It’s one thing for the original producers to leave. That’s their choice and their right, but why wouldn’t Bravo try to save one of their best programs? I’m going to give the new PR a chance but I hope the Real World people aren’t allowed near it. It’s tragic, really. Runway is such a great program, but now it might be destroyed.

Here goes picking contestants for their sewing/design ability and hello to picking contestants for their ability to ‘bring the drama’. The workroom always brings drama, but I suspect people will be chosen ONLY for their dramatic levels, not for their creativity/design.
Hello to a show full of Vincent and VictorYA, and Wendy Pepper and goodbye Chloe, Nick and Daniel V.

OMG! I cannot STAND Real World. PR is one of my favorite shows and I can just see the Real World jackasses ruining it. They are going to hunt for EVERY stereotype they can find and try to bring there crass drama tactics to this great show. Hopefully Heidi has enough say to control this. She is a producer too. And LIFETIME? That network sucks. Bravo must be out of their damned minds letting PR go. What’s next? Inside the Actors Studio on the Weather Channel?
We shall see. In the words of one of TV’s best – Tim Gunn: MAKE IT WORK!

It’s not Bravo’s fault PR left. Blame Harvey Weinstein for negotiating future seasons of the show to competitors behind NBC-Universal’s back.
