Chris Daughtry talks about his upcoming album

Cd_l
Expect an American Idol retail blitz this fall as season 7′s David Cook, David Archuleta, and Kristy Lee Cook all plan to release their debut albums. Adding to the pileup, Kelly Clarkson is also hoping her fourth effort, which she’s been working on in various locales, including Australia, will see a pre-Christmas bow. But one Idol alumnus currently in the studio is opting for a slower course. “I don’t want to put out anything that is second rate or be accused of going through a
sophomore slump,” Chris Daughtry told EW.com at the Hollywood premiere of Hancock. “So we’re
taking our time on it.”

What can fans expect from the followup to his four-times-platinum debut, Daughtry? “It’s going to be a big huge rock album,” he says. “We are working with the same
producer — Howard Benson [All American Rejects, My Chemical Romance] — same band and some of the same writers so it
feels very comfortable this time around.” The band is looking at a 2009 release, Spring at the earliest, which means several more extended stays in Los Angeles, but Daughtry insists he doesn’t make a habit of red carpets: “I only come out here to get my work done, [though] it is fun to go out at night to things like premieres with my wife. But we still live in North Carolina, which helps keep it real.” (Additional reporting by Carrie Bell)

I feel that each rocker from Idol just got better and better. Bo Bice, then Daughtry, now David Cook.

Can’t wait to hear what Cook and Daughtry release. It will make for an interesting fall and spring.

I can’t wait for Cookie and Kelly’s new albums. Hopefully hers will be out by October or November. From what I hear it is supposed to be great. Also can’t wait for Daughtry’s.

Awesome! Glad to hear that they’re taking their time. Can’t wait to hear Daughtry’s next hit album!
I’m excited for Kelly’s album as well.

I can’t wait for Daughtry’s new CD, he is my favorite American Idol. Now if only Jason Castro would put out a CD……my life would be complete!!!!!

Right On! Chris. It will be a bonanza of rock and roll when David Cook and you drop your CDs.

    I couldn’t agree more!!

Which same band is he referring to. I thought he recorded the album with studio musicians, not the guys that travel with him now. Either wya, go Chris!

Love Daughtrey, Kelly Clarkson and hopefully David Cook puts out as brilliant an album as “Analog Heart”.

Another boring fake rock album. Sorry, Daughtry is NOT true rock. Sounds just like every other wanna be on the radio these days.

  • Molly

It’s going to be hard waiting, but good things come to those who wait! Chris is a down-to-earth, humble person who also happens to be hugely talented. Go Daughtry!

Who cares if its fake this or fake that. If it sounds good, it sounds good which is entirely subjective. I’m not a huge fan, because after a few songs it just sounds like a lot of screaming but I’m okay with him continuing to make records.

  • Ken

Chris the best AI rock . Cook is good tooo, but just feel like cook is another version of chris but worse. sorry cook.

  • cdfan

As much as I’d like another CD now, they are making the right decision in taking them time. I’ll be looking forward to it.
