Hinder to David Cook: 'We'll write with you'

David Cook’s already packed schedule is about to get more demanding. With the American Idol tour kicking off tonight and booked through September 22, the season 7 champ will have to juggle concert dates with studio time in order to make the deadline for an early November album release. But one band is willing, if not eager, to help: hard rockers Hinder, best known for their 2006 hit power ballad “Lips of an Angel.” “I dig David Cook,” says singer Austin Winkler, a native of Oklahoma, where Cook has lived for the past few years. “He shows that the world is starving for a little bit of rock-n-roll. Hopefully we can write some tunes for him.”

According to Hinder, who were in the audience for this year’s Idol finale and met the winner briefly that night, the admiration is mutual. “I heard he’s a fan,” Winkler tells EW.com. “I’m sure we’ll cross paths.” Meanwhile another Hinder member is holding out for a chance at some face time with a female Idol champ: Carrie Underwood. “I love her,” says drummer Cody Hanson (no relation to Tulsa’s Hanson brothers). “She’s my favorite of everything, and probably the hottest chick on the planet.”

Personally, I think DC is better off without them. Their songs are extremely bland, IMO.

ew, david, run away from those dudes! :/

I think David should remain on his own and not involved with all rock. I love his voice and his range is too big to confine it to rock.He should decide for himself what to do.

Right On! David Cook. Choose whom you wish to write with and have a blast. You never know what killer tune will come out of collaborative efforts. You could sing the Manhattan yellow pages and make them sound totally rockin’. It’s your stylin’ that matters. You are da’ bomb!

I agree. If he waits the right songwriter will come along that doesn’t think they are better than him. This group needs David Cook more than he needs them. His CD is gong to explode and they would be lucky to have a song on it.

Hi David, I am one of the older generation fans and I hope you stay who you are. You will have so many opportunites in your career. Be smart, choose smart. I agree with many of the above who have commented, we hope you do not sing just hard rock. You have an incredible voice for all kinds of music. Good Luck in all that you do.

Not particularly a Cook fan, but well Hinder’s right, we are starving for Rock and Roll instead of the garbage they call music now.lol.

Get away from them David and more importantly, get away from the slutty girl!

  • Mary

Please let David Cook write his own material. He has something about him that is what the music industry is looking for..

I like Hinder and I love David Cook, but I think David should do most of his own music, I really think he has something to share in that beautiful mind of his. Maybe a little collaberating in his second or third album. He’s got something to say on his own first.

David needs to venture off on his own, and if he wants to write some material with others, he needs to work with some big guns, not with Hinder. Besides, Hinder had one “hit,” and I wouldn’t quite call it a good song neither. I also think he shouldn’t just limit himself to complete rock n’ roll, I love how versatile he is, that’s what I loved about him all throughout Idol.
