He did it once before with his album “Cocky”: the album was released in late 2001, but the song “Picture” didn’t become a hit until almost a year later, causing “Cocky”‘s sales to surge to multiplatinum status. It appears he is doing it again, with the song “All Summer Long” giving “Rock N Roll Jesus” a huge boost in sales, almost a year after “…Jesus”‘s release. Like Linkin Park, Rock is one of the few survivors of the rap-metal boom of the late-90′s/early 2000′s because, like Linkin Park, he was willing to change his sound to remain relevant. While Linkin Park has veered towards more of an alternative rock sound in recent years, Kid Rock has gone the Southern-fried rock route, and it appears to be paying off for him.
