Britney Spears is attempting yet another comeback: Reps have confirmed that she is at work on the follow-up to 2007’s Blackout. A statement from Jive Records and Spears’ manager Larry Rudolph says that “Britney Spears is spending her summer in the recording studio, working with a team of top-notch producers and songwriters. We’re very excited about what she’s accomplished so far.” So is Sean Garrett, who happens to be one of those producers. “We’re trying to take her stuff to the next level,” he tells EW.com. “I’m going to come up with something crazy for her.” Spears has sold 83 million albums worldwide in her career, but Blackout only went platinum in the U.S., likely due to declining CD sales and her status as last year’s most permanent tabloid fixture. But Garrett — who’s also worked with Usher, Beyoncé, and Chris Brown — welcomes the challenge. “I like to work on an artist when they count them out…and bring them back.”

Blackout was a pop-music masterwork, unfortunately overlooked my many because of the constant cloud of paparazzi and front-page headlines. If this album is anything like it, I can’t wait.
yeah, Blackout was AWESOME. I hope this rushed album lives up to it. If not, it’s a shame they didn’t just keep going with singles from Blackout like “Toy Soldier”, “Get Naked (I Got A Plan)”, and “Freakshow”.
another vote for Blackout being an awesome album. I almost venture to say it was the best britney album ever.. i like pretty much EVERY song on Blackout as opposed to a few here and there on all her previous albums.
I agree, blackout was a great cd, the best songs from the cd were not released, toy soldier and get naked. It is a shame and I hope someone at Jive records will listen again and release another song, I may be dramatic but what a injustice.
I AGREE BLACKOUT IS AN AWESOME CD GREAT!
THEY SHOULD WORK ON GIVING LEGS TO THIS CD AND BRING IT TO #1!
i thinks she’s over. she can’t even perform live adequately anymore.
Disappear already!!!
While Britney will never be able to regain her pop princess crown unless she can learn to perform live again (75% of her past success can be attributed to her outfits, choreography, and (previously) incredible body), I think she’ll still be able to sell a decent amount of records by doing what she’s been doing since the the “Britney” album: handing over complete creative control of her music to the best dance and hip-hop producers and song-writers in the business and then just showing up in the studio for a few days to breathe heavily in the microphone. I, for one, will be buying her new CD the day it comes out! There’s just something about the drama and theatrics of her story that keeps me and a lot of people who were her early fans committed.
just take your meds ;;;;
please no more trailer thrash this country is
screaming 4 new levels
i hope she can keep up with the real world
i know she s glamorizing trailer trash on the pics with kevin back then so what
i think
she s trying to clean up
and she s talented
i don t care if kevin is trailer thrash she s not
Just can’t wait, I like the idea to come with a new album, fresh, clean, ready to kill the others blonde fake.
Just can’t wait, I just want that she record the song Immune 2 Game produced by Frescha (Heaven On Earth), the song is awesome.
She has to promote this new album overseas, she has to go to a lot of TV program and then tour around thw world.
She has to be thin again, of course.
I’m completely stoked about Britney making a new cd! “Blackout” was the best dance pop album in years. And hey, “only platinum” isn’t bad when you have no manager or publicist and do no interviews to promote your album. She sold as many albums as, say, Rihanna, without even trying. If she can put out another killer album, shimmy her way through a decent performance and sit through an interview or two-the world will be kising her feet again. Hell, the only music award show that didn’t completely tank was the MTV awards-and we all know that was thanks to Britney. In fact, hers is just about the only performance I can remember from the past year or so. Who are we kidding? While there are other talented singers in the world, this whole era of pop is banal and forgettable without Spears. She’s pure entertainment. If she doesn’t make a successful comeback, it’s our loss.
i don t care about anything she can sing ;;;;
please, britney, you cow…go the hell away…. for a long time……………………………….how about back to Lousyana where yer kin folk’l welcum ya back…yeehaw and hit the road…
She could easily stay around for years. She needs to go on tour, but before that she needs to get her performances back on track. She’s the next madonna. We’ll be seeing her for the next decade.
