Mario Lopez — the Saved by the Bell alum who’s enjoyed a career resurgence thanks to stints on Nip/Tuck and Dancing With the Stars — will take over as host of the weekday syndicated show Extra beginning Sept. 15. Lopez had been serving as a correspondent and co-host for Extra’s weekend edition since January 2007. Extra co-host Dayna Devon will become a special correspondent, and Mark McGrath will go back to making music with Sugar Ray, which is expected to release another album in early 2009. Extra begins its 15th season this fall.

WHO CARES
A little goes a long way when you are talking about Mario.
Whoop di do. Does anyone watch that show anyway?
man whatever happened to him? he hasn’t been on tv for a whole 12 seconds. tgiextra.
I’m just glad he’s employed.
I am com-PLETE-ly Mario’d out! Blech!
How come whenever you see a picture of this douchebag smiling, it looks like his tongue is ready to fall out of his mouth?
He’s smoking hot tho
demotion for Dayna Devon
The real news would be if you could tell us why the “shake-up”. The real reason-you know is Mario dating one of the producers, are the ratings in a downfall, you know, the real good story.
THE TRUTH, THE DIRT, & THE AMERICAN WAY!!!
Isn’t he the same @sshole who was caught on tape boasting about ‘I just beat up a homeless guy’ or something to that effect? Classy, indeed…
Oh dear. McGrath was pretty bad, but Dana Devon is OK. I like her.
Mario ? oh dear gawd, what a bland blank head with a permanent smiley face. He’s about as edgy [and exciting] as a smiley face, come to think of it.
It’s typical. The older ones get replaced by a younger more buffed up version…….so sad!!!
Okay, I was open-minded when this whole thing played out and was willing to give Mario a chance (even though he grates on my every last nerve) because I really love the show. Or did anyway when Dayna was host. Now I refuse to watch it. I have switched to a different show altogether because I miss Dayna. Mario is so annoying. I’m sorry! You screwed up NBC!
what happened to Dayna and Mark?? Mario sucks…
