Exclusive: 'CSI: NY' Books Nelly

Tags:

Nelly_lGary Sinise and Co. are taking a little detour to Nellyville this fall.

Sources confirm to me exclusively that rapper and occasional actor Nelly is joining CSI: NY for a multi-episode arc. The Grammy winner will play a club owner who serves as a confidential informant to Mac and his team.

“He’s a great actor,” gushes executive producer Pam Veasey of Nelly, whose only major thespian credit to date is 2005′s The Longest Yard. “He really stepped up.”

In other CSI: NY news, in a piece of stunt casting that has the words “Danny/Lindsay montage” written all over it, Maroon 5 will make a cameo in this season’s second episode, airing Oct. 1.

I think Nelly’s casting it’s interesting. Let’s see if he can really act.
I’m looking forward to anything Danny/Lindsay.
Thanks for keeping the CSI:NY scoops coming.

  • Marianne

I’m not usually a fan of the CSI stunt casting, but this story was worth it for the snark about a D/L montage!

    YAY! For DL news,
Gahh Maroon 5, yes please! :)

  • Lisa

Thanks Ausiello! I look forward to the DL montage. Maroon 5 is a great band; can’t wait to see them on the show.

  • Justin

The bit about the montage was a joke. Expect to see some D/L comment with every CSI: NY post for a while. Auseillo just likes riling up ‘shippers and inciting ship wars to get more page views.

  • Luis PJ

Hopefully the montage isn’t “Wake Up Call”

  • Nat

I wouldn’t be surprised if the Maroon 5 performance is wasted on Mac, due to TPTB’s incessant need to pretend that Mac is still young and hip (hence Mac’s performance with the 20-something Will Daily last season as well as the trio of 10-years-too-young actresses who’ve played his potential love interests over the last two seasons.) Next up: they’ll bring on Mandy Moore to play his new love interest and musical partner.

  • Kathleen

I feel so used. Ausiello is exploiting my love of all things Danny/Lindsay to hype casting news. But I am always happy to learn things about CSI NY.

  • Diana

LOL I certainly agree about Ausiello and his genius tactic to rile shippers up! A montage = The end of DL. Isn’t Maroon 5′s latest song a break up one?

  • Caroline

If they’re singing If I Never See Your Face Again, it’s as good as confirmed D/L will end by the second episode. The other spoilers indicate already D/L is over so this is nothing new.

  • Amanda

More celebrity casting? Sigh. I hope Nelly can at least act like he raps.

  • Sally

“Won’t Go Home Without You” is another one of the songs off the most recent album, and would spell good news for DL. I doubt we’ve seen the last of Danny and Lindsay forever, why would the writers even have put in the DL phone call?
Face it everyone, Danny/Lindsay, no matter how rocky it gets, will be around for a long time. On and off is typical for drama TV couples.
