Exclusive: Peyton's 'One Tree Hill' Maybe-Daddy Unmasked!

Hilarieburton_l_2Remember the mystery man that Mia told Peyton (Hilarie Burton) she had met in the One Tree Hill season finale? You know, the guy who
knew Peyton’s biological mother back in the day? The dude we were led
to believe might be Peyton’s real pops? No? Me neither. But listen up
anyway, ’cause this is about to get very interesting. I think.

Actor-musician John Doe (Roswell, seminal L.A. punk band X) is joining the One Tree Hill cast this season as said mystery man, sources confirm to me
exclusively.

One of those sources, OTH executive producer Mark Schwahn, says
the identity of Doe’s character (who, ironically, is a John Doe himself at this point) will remain a mystery… for a little while at least. “Whether or not he’s [Peyton's] father will be the question,” Schwahn explains. “[But] we will find out one way or the other.”

See, told you it’d get interesting. It did, right? (Additional reporting by Lindsay Soll)

OMG, such great news. Love to catch John Doe in anything. Actually, just saw his band play a few months ago. He still sounds like buttah.

  • Dennis

I would rather have Larry back as some new father figure for Peyton. Or bring her brother Derek back … but this new character … oh Schwahn come on!

  • Robin

OMG! You offered up some great OTH scoop, without too much distain! I am so proud of you! Thanks for the scoop. I also read that in the first ep this season that we find out not only who Lucus called, but also who he is with a year down the road. I would love to know if that is true and how they plan on doing that. Help me, Ausiello, your my only hope.

  • Laura

Thrilled to have John Doe on OTH but why keep the mystery whether he is or isn’t Peyton’s real father? Peyton’s been through a lot already. Didn’t they pull this kind of crap with her biological mom already?

  • kathy

I LOVE JOHN DOE! I have great memories of seeing X perform way back when..
    He was great on SVU.
I may actually watch more than a minute of this show.

Exactly how many fathers and mothers does this biatch have? Ever season someone shows up claiming to be her father or mother or grandmother or grandfather.. THIS SHOW IS SO RIDICULOUS, AND CRAZY…But I still watch t all the time. God, help me quit.

  • jes

Alright. I’m ecstatic that Peyton’s dad (possibly…?) is coming into her life. NOW GIVE HER LUCAS ALREADY!!! ::::i have every appendage crossed that there’s some happy Leyton action going on this season:::::

  • TJ

Wow, this is exciting since everyone of her family members that get introduce disappear, like her brother Derek? What exactly happened to him?

  • Sue

Michael, I thought you uh, disliked OTH. I was surprised to see this in your column. News is news, I guess.

  • Reagan

    Who did Lukas pick???

  • Ella

Another season for Peyton to cry over her parents? Pass.

  • Katie

To be honest, I would rather you not report about OTH if you can’t keep you personal views out of the article. This isn’t an opinion column…

  • Jessica Smith

remind again why should i care about another random relative of peyton’s ?? she already had a father who raised her so who cares about a new one showing up. Now if it was an old boytoy she had after she and lucas brooke up then it would be interesting ,especially for lucas to experience not being in the center of a triangle (the brooke felix thing does not count)

  • Chelsey

    –SPOILER–
Lucas calls Peyton. It’s been confirmed with pics and all. I for one, am very very happy

Katie – don’t see where in this article there’s any opinion stated.
