Brace yourself Potterphiles. The Tales of Beedle the Bard — the wizard-centric stories mentioned in J.K. Rowling‘s Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — will soon make its way into the hands of fans worldwide less than a year after the author originally produced seven hand-written and illustrated copies (Amazon purchased one for $4 million at an auction). “There was understandable disappointment among Harry Potter fans when only one copy of The Tales of Beedle the Bard
was offered to the public last December,” Rowling says. “I am therefore delighted to
announce that…The Tales of Beedle the Bard will now be widely available to all Harry Potter fans.”
Rowling will release the book — which includes “notes by Professor Albus Dumbledore, which appear by generous permission of the Hogwarts Headmasters’ Archive” — on Dec. 4 through Amazon, Scholastic, and Bloomsbury (Amazon will distribute up to 100,000 collector’s editions, while Scholastic and Bloomsbury will print trade editions). Another bonus? All net proceeds from the book will go to Rowling’s charity, Children’s High Level Group.

Aww, I’m glad she’s doing this. It’ll be nice to walk into a bookstore and buy another one of her books again.
eek! I am so freeking excited! i’ve waited so long and soon my geeky potter collection will be complete!
woooo – i ordered the collectors edition already.
is it dec. 4th yet?
i had a feeling that more of the side books would be released as charity titles. like she did with the quidditch book. I think it’s an awesome idea. fans get more potterverse AND they can help others. i work retail and 2 of the 3 companies I work for have Project Red lines which we promote heavily for the same reasons.
hopefully one day JK will release the Encyclopedia she was talking about a couple of books back. that would be a huge hit and a great fund raiser.
Dealthy?
Will she ever release the History of Horwarts? That would be cool!
I can’t wait! I loved the “textbooks” she released a few years back.
Excellent, I am glad that it is going to include Dumbledore’s comments. That is alway fun.
