TBS announced today that it has signed on for a second Tyler Perry sitcom, placing a 10-epsiode order for Meet the Browns, a TV spin-off based on characters from Perry’s popular play and movie of the same name. Perry will executive produce, direct, and sometimes write for the show, which will premiere in January. David Mann will reprise his role from the play and film as Leroy Brown, a character who inherits a dilapidated house from his deceased father. Perry also exec produces, directs, and writes for House of Payne, the TBS sitcom that set ratings records for a basic cable sitcom with its two premiere episodes in 2006. Perry’s next movie, The Family That Prey’s, opens Sept. 12.

HELLO!
I’M A TRUE LOVE FOR COMEDY AND I’M A FAN OF THE TYLER PERRY’S HOUSE OF PAYNE SITCOMS. HIS NEW SITCOM MEET THE BROWNS FIRST AIRED LAST NIGHT AND IT WAS A HIT AT MY HOUSE! THE TWO EPISODES THAT I VIEWED LAST NIGHT WERE JUST SO HILARIOUS THEY HAD ME ROLLING IN LAUGHTER! BEING TRUTHFUL AND HONEST…I’VE LAUGHED MORE AT THE TWO EPISODES OF MEET THE BROWNS EPISODES THAN I’VE EVER LAUGHED AT THE HOUSE OF PAYNE EPISODES! IF ALL OF THE UPCOMING EPISODES OF MEET THE BROWNS ARE AS FUNNY AS THE TWO PREVIOUS EPISODES I SEEN LAST NIGHT, THIS SHOW WILL BE A HIT BY ALL MEANS WITH THIS VIEWER AND HER HOUSEHOLD MEMBERS! GREAT JOB FOLKS! LOVE WHATCHA DOING!!!

My family and I watched the first showing of the TV sitcom MEET THE BROWNS after HOUSE OF PAYNE and we loved it! It’s very funny! Brown . . . you’re awesome as usual, “drop kick me Jesus was very funny . . . LOL! My kids especially thought London was funny when she slapped Mr. Brown’s hand and said “what’s up little buddy” LOL! And she’s very pretty! We hope Madea meets London to teach her a lesson! That would be soooo funny! Keep it up Mr. Perry we are loving your shows!
I am all for our folks making the almighty dollar and if they are gonna pay tyler Perry for it, hey who am I to comment? However, I’m sorry but Meet The Browns is too BUFFOON for me. To each his own, but sorry it wont show on my tube. Love your movies though Tyler and keep up the great work.
It’s great and all that Tyler Perry is making money. But the content of this show lacks any intelligence. I think the main character does nothing but make an idiot of himself. Anyone could write about an annoying neighbor. Just not enough substance to entertain me. I root for him and all, but people make too much a big deal about these type shows. I guess if the formula works and your target market isn’t tired of the same stuff over and over, let it ride. But that’s only going to last but so long.
Meet the Browns is a LET DOWN. There are moments when you smile but it lacks substance. TP you can do much better.
i love all movies by tyler perry he is such a humorous and creative writer i hope that there is more movies and tv shows to come.
I think that Meet The Browns is a hilarious show. I rush home every Wed to watch it and I laugh extremely hard.I love Brown’s character his outfits are to funny. When he went to jail,”Cora why ain’t nobody come see me and put no money on my books!” and he was only in there for about 2hrs.You had to find that funny. I like all the characters and I hope to continue to see the show.I love all Tyler Perry shows and movies I look forward to seeing Madea coming to have it out with Brown. Keep up the good work and bringing the laughs
