OMFG! Two of my favorite shows are about to collide — and it sounds like it’s going to have us ROFWL!
Gossip Girl frenemies Leighton Meester and Blake Lively are close to a deal to guest-star in a November sweeps episode of NBC’s increasingly stunt-happy 30 Rock, sources confirm to me exclusively. The dynamic duo will play — prepare to laugh ’till you piddle — former high school classmates of Liz Lemon’s in a flashback sequence that reveals a shocking and deeply ironic truth about Tina Fey’s morally superior alter ego: She was a Mean Girl!
Gen. Ius.
The Gossip-inspired flashback coincides with Liz’s 20-year high school reunion, which means we’re also going to meet the adult versions of Meester and Lively’s characters. (In a kicky twist, Rock execs are talking to Blake’s older sis, Robyn Lively, about playing the latter part.)
C’mon, admit it: This is 10 times more exciting than Jennifer Aniston.
Now for something totally unrelated, have you ever had a burning desire to beat me at something? Anything? Well, with our just-launched Emmy Prediction Game, you’ll finally get your chance! It’ll never happen, of course, but at least you’ll have fun trying! (Additional reporting by Lynette Rice)

An old tubesock is 10 times more exciting than Jennifer Aniston.
I agree with Dalton Ross – 30 Rock is turning into Will & Grace (and that’s a bad, bad idea):

You’re totally wrong Mike…in a show like 30 Rock, celebrities are at the core of the show, and always have been (thats the premise…Tracy “Jordan” is famous). In Will and Grace, it was not normal for them to run into Kevin Bacon, Jennifer Lopez, Janet Jackson, etc.
when will this episode be on
BEST. NEWS. EVER.
the only thing that can be more exciting than this, to me, is a confirmation of a veronica mars movie.
Since GG is my FAVOURITE show ever, I’ll definitely be tuning in!! WHen is this episode on??
This is amazing news.
THIS. IS. MADE. OF. WIN.
I’m so excited.
And as for the “Oh, there’s too many celebs, it’s turning into Will & Grace,” thing, not only like Tirza said, that it actually makes sense with the premise of the show for them to run into these celebrities, but also having many celebrities guest star on the show as people other than themselves is not necessarily a bad thing, one, because more than not these people are celebrities for a reason, they have amazing talent and are incredible actors, and two, it all depends on how the show deals with it all, and in the smart way 30 Rock does, it’s not a bad thing at all.
careful, 30 rock — don’t want to become the next will and grace…
love it!!
I prefer Jennfer Aniston. She is so muck better. Friends is the best tv’s series ever!
One of the most awesome things I have ever heard.
30 Rock is NOT turning into Will & Grace and never will. It’s a brilliant show that has yet to handle a guest appearance badly. They always have the perfect character for that person to play, and I have no doubt that’ll continue this season. This is awesome news!
I love this idea and I won’t make any judgment about what the show’s becoming without seeing the episodes first. Maybe others (Mr. Ross) should do the same…
I’ve already said over in Popwatch that all these casting coups don’t seem out of place on “30 Rock” because of the nature of the show, so I won’t rehash that too much.
I don’t get why everyone’s so quick to call “30 Rock” the new “Will & Grace”: we all know “Ugly Betty” IS the new “Will and Grace.”
