Rejoice! Fox Cancels 'Do Not Disturb'!

Tags:

Donotdisturb_lAnd the award for first cancellation of the new fall season goes to…Fox’s Do Not Disturb!

Sources confirm to me exclusively that the critically savaged sitcom, starring a slumming Jerry O’Connell and Niecy Nash, has been axed after three low-rated episodes. The show’s Wednesday time slot will be filled with repeats of ‘Til Death, which upgrades the network’s 9 to 10 p.m. comedy block from excruciatingly painful to unbearably painful. (And yes, that is an upgrade, albeit a very slight one.)

A Fox insider insists no official decision has been made re: Do Not Disturb‘s fate. UPDATE: Fox is now confirming the show’s demise.

News comes just days after DND‘s producers publicly apologized for making such a crappy show.

All’s forgiven!

ahem… 9-10pm comedy block. Bones is on at 8. come on now. :o )

How is it that Jerry O’Connell in a bad tv show = slumming? What has he done that is any good, aside from a guest spot on Ugly Betty (and of course, Stand by Me, but that was a movie)?

  • majigail

Well, I guess that’s 3 things in my DVR I can take out now…

Yeah, this show was awful. I thought Jerry O’Connell’s last show, Carpoolers, was hilarious, and even though Do Not Disturb looked awful thought I’d give it a try but couldn’t even make it through the first half hour. It was very poor writing and overacting on most parts. Ugh.

This is really disappointing, i work at a hotel and I was hoping for a show that captured the hilarity of working for one. This show stunk. Working at a hotel is hilarious, there are so many funny situations that can be found.

Well good thing Fox canceled shows like Arrested Development, Futurama, and Firefly! It needed to make room for these critically acclaimed and ratings hits like Do Not Disturb, ‘Til Death and Cavemen!
3.4 million viewers? Refresh my memory, wasn’t AD doing way better than that?

    To Matt:
Yeah, but not by much. Arrested Development hit over the 4 million mark around cancellation time. At least with that, AD had enough critical acclaim to keep it afloat for two and a half seasons. I knew the commercials made Do Not Disturb look terrible, but when the creators themselves regretted making the show and apoligized for it, that takes abysmal quality into a whole another level.

They should replace both Wed 9:00 sitcoms with Terminator. That way they won’t keep getting thrashed by ESPN’s Monday Night Football.

All the new sitcoms are pitiful. Sadly, Do Not Disturb is the best of the lot and that’s not saying much. Gary Unmarried was unwatchable after about 10 minutes. Worst week was the worst of the new comedies. Once again tv will be left with Samantha Who and Two and a Half Men carrying the sitcom banner and even the Two and a Half Men premiere was a little slack this season.

Gary unmarried was funny and worst week is hilarious! As much as I like jerry oconnell, I could not get into do not disturb. It’s sad when on another network like ABC, the adventures of old christine would be a huge hit because they could put it after dancing with the stars.

Although cruzilla doesn’t seem to know O’Connell’s background, he/she has a point. Maybe Jer should think about finding another drama. His successes on Crossing Jordan and Sliders were most successful and lasted elonger than the past two comedy gigs. Gotta thnk of the twins now (Ashley & Mary-Kate-O’Connell jokingly said they were named.)

  • Matt

Are there really 3 different Matt’s on this thing?!
Yeah the final season of Arrested Development had horrendous ratings, but the first season had twice the numbers DND has…er had.

  • aa

    i actually kinda liked it.

  • erin

now Niecy can do new episodes of Clean House…those fill in chicks just aren’t cutting it!!

  • Brendan

I actually thought Do Not Disturb is way funnier than Til Death. I hope they’ll keep selling the other ten episodes on iTunes.
