'CSI: NY' Exclusive: Danny and Lindsay Are Expecting!

Anna Belknap’s real-life pregnancy is turning into quite the bundle of joy for Danny-Lindsay fans: Not only is CSI: NY incorporating the baby twist into Lindsay’s story line, but producers have gone and made Danny the daddy!

“Lindsay will be pregnant,” reveals executive producer Pam Veasey. “And, clearly, Danny is the father.”

Feel free to kiss the messenger. Or shower him with gifts. Don’t be shy.

The bombshell will be dropped in the show’s 101st episode, tentatively scheduled to air on Nov. 26, but the fallout will be felt long thereafter. “We’re not going to be so typical about it,” Veasey adds. “They’re both happy about it, but it is unexpected.”

Big questions remain: Will D-L make things official prior to their son/daughter’s birth? How will Lindsay’s absence be explained when her portrayer takes off on maternity leave? How will this news impact the return of you-know-who (I’m talkin’ ’bout Rikki!)? My plan is to answer all of these questions (and more) in Ask Ausiello tomorrow provided you guys, well, ask them. Hurry up and submit your burning D-L Qs to ausielloscoop@ew.com by 5 p.m./EST today and then check AA for the scoop.

In the meantime, is a Danny-Lindsay pregnancy everything you had hoped for and more? Or is it too much too soon? Sound off below!

Being a DL fan (and not as naive as some would like to think), I know this will not make things ‘all better’, but I am freakin’ ecstatic about this!!!

Honestly, if Anna Belknap weren’t pregnant, I would be annoyed that they were doing this storyline right now. Since she is, it makes sense to use it, and having Danny be the father seems obvious. They will have to explain the timeline a bit though, since as far as we know, they haven’t been together since Rueben died.

I am beyond excited for a DL baby, I’m sure the writers will handle it well. I’m expecting that it’s not going to be smooth sailing from here on out, but it is exciting to get to see the real problems that families would face while doing this job. It’s definitely an exciting and rejuvenating twist to the show, it will be good to see how Danny has to mature from this news rather than the self destructive man we saw last season.
And I’m thrilled that they aren’t going to be hiding Anna behind computers and file folders.
    Bring on season 5!!

  • Amybabe

Didn’t she already have a baby last season or a season ago? (In real life that they hid)

  • Lisa

First off, a big congrats to Anna and her husband. I am looking forward to this storyline, and although a child won’t solve the problems between Danny and Lindsay, he/she may help them become stronger, both as individuals and as a unit.

  • Lynn

Okay shift the program to day time and send CBS a box of soap suds!! I am finished with this show.

  • Jess

Wow. After the season we D-L fans had last season this is freaking awesome! I know angst goes hand-in-hand with drama, so I am expecting that. This story has potential, not only for D-L as a couple but as individual characters. I can’t wait!
Thank you so much for the news, you are on top of all scoops. Keep CSI:NY in your list.

Wouldn’t Lindsay’s absence on the show during Anna Belknap’s maternity leave be explained by… maternity leave?

  • Isabella

Amybabe–Yes, Anna did have a child a year and a half ago. This will be her second.

  • deniz

congrulations anna eric and their girl
I m so excited last season 4 were bad about dl but I hope season 5 will very good about dl , we will se dl baby awosome

  • Lexi

    Yay!~
It’s all I can say right now!

  • Mariella

    Congratulations to Anna and co.!
I am a huge D/L fan, although I would be more excited about this storyline if timelines were explained!

wow they’ve effectively ruined this show!
What a terrible way to handle the pregnancy of a moderately good actress. Why is it every time something happens with Lindsay/Anna the other parts end up suffering so much because of it? This is just another clear indicator that the mary-sue this character is cannot stand on her own.
I’ve been optimistic about hoping this show would clean itself up eventually since Belknap’s introduction but clearly that’s not the direction it’s going.
I really had the writers on NY pegged as better than this but I guess if really sappy and cliched writing is what people want then they can’t be expected to produce anything else. Too bad. This show really was something once.

  • Jennifer

Is this CSI or Y&R? This sounds like its going to ruin the whole season. Maybe even permanently ruin the show!

  • Rhonda

So, basically this is just catering to a pregnant actress. This storyline is ridiculous and I’m sure TPTB will totally screw it up. So Danny’s been sleeping with both Rikki and Lindsay. Throwing a baby into the mix is not gonna suddenly fix things. What’s the point in bringing Rikki back then? Oh wait, it wouldn’t be CSI:NY without more DL drama. This show IS turning into nothing more than a silly soap opera. I’ll be tuning in but not for DL. There’s much better storylines out there for the rest of the cast. And wouldn’t it make sense that they’d explain Lindsay’s absence on maternity leave?
