Speculating about Sarah Chalke being How I Met Your Mother‘s mysterious matriarch is so five minutes ago. The debate that’s raging among HIMYM disciples now is whether or not Ted’s future baby mama is Jamie-Lynn Sigler.
Or at least it will be once they’re done reading this story.
Sources confirm to me exclusively that Mother execs have tapped Sigler to guest star as Jillian, an old friend of Lily’s and a notorious party girl. The Sopranos vet will appear in just one episode, the airdate of which is TBD.
Translation: Sigler’s got to be Mother‘s mother, right? I mean, she’s female. She’s the right age. She’s a woman. Did I mention she’s also the right age?
It’s either that or I played the “M” card simply to generate added interest in this casting item.
Which is it? You decide!

The kids have dark hair and Sarah Chalke is a blonde, so Jamie-Lynn Sigler does have dark hair and could possibly be the mother. I just think they could have picked a really good one to be the mother instead of Jamie-Lynn.
If she only appears in one episode, there’s no way she’s the mother.

I prefer not to speculate. There’s really no point.. Just enjoy the show and trust that we’ll get there… It’s about the journey anyway.. That said, Stella is NOT the mother anyway.. I know you want her to be, Michael, but she’s not.. I’ve been saying it for months… Mark my words..
No point in speculating, this show has always surprised me, one of the very few that actually could. Sit back and enjoy the ride.
I only watch the show once in a while, and didn’t realise that the mother has not yet been identified. I thought the show stated with the reveal, and was now proceeding on how they met.

And wasn’t HIMYM’s last 60 seconds soooooo telling last week? They meet, a year later, Robin (next to Barney hmmm…) is in from Japan, Marshall and Lily and her line, “Let’s go up to the apartment…” Where’s Ted and his “family”? Sure, Ted’s there, but…

anything is better than Stella, they have about as much chemistry as oil and water.
The producers ruled out Stella’s sister being the mother a long time ago.

It’s funny how every woman that comes on the show is speculated to be the mother. I could be wrong but my guess is we won’t meet the mother until the end of the series. It will probably be some no name actress or something. haha The jokes on us!
