Exclusive: More 'Gossip,' 'Tree Hill,' '90210' on the Way!

My dream of a 52-episode Gossip Girl season is moving closer to reality.

Two weeks after extending GG‘s season by two episodes (from 22 to 24), The CW has informed exec producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage that it wants to tack on one more for a grand total of 25 episodes (and counting).

And this time, The CW is spreading the love around.

Sources also confirm to me exclusively that the net has ordered two additional episodes of One Tree Hill and 90210, extending both shows’ seasons to 24 episodes apiece.

Tree Hill has been a surprise success story for The CW. Despite my best efforts to destroy it, the six-year-old soap has been on a ratings roll, posting double-digit gains over last season and consistently building on its Gossip lead in. Not too shabby.

And 90210, while off its initial highs, has become a solid (if not spectacular) performer among its target audience of men and women age 18-49 who work at Entertainment Weekly young females.

Now if they’d only do the same for Supernatural!

Im very excited about the Gossip Girl extension…
also pretty pleased with OTH & 90210 as well [my guilty pleasures]
but honestly… whats with the shaft cw always gives supernatural?!
i think they deserve more episodes too! at least 24 like oth & 90210

Well, the thing is that Supernatural is one of the CWs weakest preformers in the 18-34 women demo, which is the CWs target demo. Which is why they don’t give Supernatural any special treatment.

la mamacuca, ese Dean de Supernatural(Jenssen Ackles) está mas bueno, pa mamarle ese machete y que me llene la cara de de leche!

It would be smart for The CW to give more episodes to all shows, if not not for love then at least to make up for lost episodes from last year because of the writers strike… Smallville has been the #1 scripted show on the network for a while now, and this year I believe it’s #1 in viewers (since Friday Night Smackdown left and America’s Next Top Model isn’t doing as well as past cycles).

I agree with those who said that Supernatural needs an extended season, too. Although, I would settle for them getting an increase in their music budget.

Yeah more GG and OTH, this coming from a 36 year old. Probably not their target audience but oh well. Never seen the new 90210 since it comes on at the same time as The Biggest Loser.

  • C Clarke

You totally made my day!!! Fan of all three, but the two extra episodes of OTH makes me smile the most!

90210 is garbage. I stopped watching about 3 episodes ago.
Regarding Gossip Girl, love it. Glad we are getting more but lets hope they don’t spread it too thin. Remember what happened to The OC???

Mr. Ausiello—why is it that you hate One Tree Hill so much?? It is definitely one of my guilty pleasures.
