'American Idol,' '24,' 'Dollhouse' season premiere dates announced

Idolgroup_l_2
Fox announced today that American Idol will return with a special two-night, four-hour debut on Jan. 13 and 14. But that was hardly the end of the good news from the network, which also divulged the debut date of Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse and the night when 24 will return! Whedon’s drama that stars Eliza Dushku will launch Feb. 13, and 24 will make a comeback over two nights on Jan. 11 and 12. Here are other important dates from Fox’s midseason lineup to remember: the new drama Lie to Me (which stars Tim Roth as an expert who can tell whether people are fibbing) will bow on Jan. 21; Hell’s Kitchen resurfaces on Jan. 29; House shifts to Mondays starting Jan. 19; Bones moves to Thursdays on Jan. 15; and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles will jump to Fridays on Feb. 13. And finally, the reality show Hole in the Wall, which is based on the Japanese Tetris series, will bow on Sundays beginning Jan. 18

So, Conner chronicles will be canceled February 20th or 27th? Fridays are the kiss of death for sci-fi themed Fox Shows not named x-files.

    Wait, Bones moves to THURSDAYS?
Nope. Not happening. What are they up against at 8 on wednesdays? And why don’t they give Fringe the move and keep Bones as a lead-in to House?
    Mad.

  • Richard

They are putting Dollhouse on Fridays which means it will not last past season 1( case in point Wonderfalls). DAMN U FOX!

Why is Bones on THURSDAY??? That day is already way to crowded, and that’s with me DVRing (but not yet watching) this season of Ugly Betty. And is DollHouse really on Friday, or will it just premiere then (sometimes they switch stuff around after the premiere)? With DVR and Tivo, Friday shows DO get watched- just not on Fridays. If the network factors those numbers in, maybe it will have a shot….But hey, this is Fox. Joss, why didn’t you demand in your contract the Tuesday at 9 slot, with the House lead-in?

Don’t forget Fridays is where Fox usually move shows to die (Firefly). Has anything worked for Fox on Fridays?

  • Jessica S-again

“Dollhouse” on Fridays? This does not bode well (again) for Joss and Co. What is the network thinking?
I can only hope that FOX is prescient enough to know that if there’s another “Firefly” debacle, Whedon fans might give up on the network altogether.

Dollhouse on Fridays? On Fox? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! That’s where good Fox Sci-Fi shows go to die the death of painful obscurity. Hopefully with the advent of DVR and Web viewing the curse of Friday Night Fox and musical time slots won’t have quite the nasty impact it’s had in the past. Also don’t get the Bones move to an already packed Thursday night on other networks. And whatever happened to that Ron Moore project that was supposed to air back to back with Dollhouse? Not Caprica, the other, non-BSG affiliated show?

    The Meaning of Obama’s Victory
When Michelle Obama stated during the presidential campaign that, “For the first time in my adult lifetime I’m really proud of my country” most open-minded people knew what she meant—especially now. I have never been prouder of America. Barack Obama’s monumental presidential victory has inspired hope that America can live up to the egalitarian principles embedded in its constitution. This moment ranks with the Emancipation Proclamation, the ratification of the 13th Amendment, which ended slavery, and the Brown decision as one of the most significant events in the history of U.S. race relations.
The exuberance of this moment parallels the 13th Amendment in many ways. There was euphoria among the slaves that were freed in 1865.
