Sarah McLachlan and Pink’s duet on the song “Angel” was one of the highlights of the 2008 American Music Awards. The pairing came together, McLachlan told EW.com at the AMAs, after the two met at Ellen Degeneres’ 50th birthday party. “She told me about seeing Prince playing ‘Angel’ at Coachella and that she sang every word at top of her lungs. And I thought, ‘Hmm…I think I know who might be able to sing it with me.’ I love her voice, she’s got a great rock ‘n’ roll grit that’s really soulful as well.”
Perhaps there’s a future studio pairing in
store? “If the song is right, I’m game,” McLachlan said. “I don’t know
why more people don’t ask me, because I’m a total whore in that
way — I’ll sing with anybody as long as it feels good.” Also high on her list? Coldplay’s Chris Martin, whom she met backstage at the AMAs. “I really wanted to say to him, ‘I’ll fly anywhere, anytime,’ but we ended up talking about kids and touring. He’s delicious.”
I really hope they work on a song together. Sarah and Pink are both amazing artists. Their duet was a great surprise at the AMA’s…so much over the top performances and then this simple glorious performance made the show for me.

I’m still wondering why an old song that was popular many years ago becomes a highlight of this year’s award show. Sure it was a wonderful song, but that song has no business being performed many years past its peak. Is this song only Sarah’s claim to fame that she could not come up with a more current hit? Pathetic if that’s the case. I could have appreciated better a top song from 2007-2008 (as this is the 2008 AMA!). And why does that ugly chick Pink have to perform twice that night? Were there no other deserving artists that could have been given the honor too?
Much of pinks music is atrocious to me, but I gotta admit the girl can sing really really well. Two great talents singing a classic song, yeah it was a good idea. Glad to see it, glad to hear it.
A great performance by two infuriating artists on an otherwise crappy show.
Why are they infuriating?
Well, if Pink’s songs were as good as her voice, she’d kick MUCH ass. While Sarah seems to be following the pattern: release an album. spend a year promoting it. release a live album (with much of the same material). take 4-5 years off. rinse. repeat.
Still, I definitely wouldn’t mind these two getting together.
