With Pushing Daisies looking all but canceled — production on episode 13 ended and no more episodes are expected to be ordered by ABC — a new gig has sprouted up for one of its stars, Kristin Chenoweth. EW.com has learned that she’s joined the cast of Fox’s animated comedy Sit Down, Shut Up, about the staff at a small-town Florida high school. Chenoweth replaces Maria Bamford (Stuart Little 2) as the voice of science teacher Miracle Grohe (great name!). The series — which is slated to debut in the spring — is exec produced by Arrested Development creator Mitch Hurwitz, and its cast boasts Arrested vets Jason Bateman, Will Arnett, and Henry Winkler, along with Will Forte, Kenan Thompson, Cheri Oteri, Tom Kenny, and Nick Kroll.

This does not do well for my denial of Pushing Daisies’ fate.
awesome. just awesome. I’m so excited for this show. And it’s going to be WAY cheaper to make than Arrested because it’s animated … which hopefully means that FOX won’t be looking for a gold mine of ratings. Which means, god willing, the show may just last long enough to be enjoyable.

I love Kristin Chenoweth but not when she’s replacing the Bamer! One of the reasons I was excited about Sit Down, Shut Up was because it was giving one of my favorite comedians a steady gig.

Yay for Kristen Chenowith!! I really hope the best for Lee Pace, Anna Friel, Chi McBride, Swoosie Kurtz, and the rest of the Pushing Daisies cast. They were all so incredible, and I’m especially gonna miss Emerson Cod’s effing hilarious one-liners! Damn you viewers for not watching Pushing Daisies!
Yay for Kristen. I’m still mourning PD though. I hope the rest of the cast lands on their feet. Each of them is so talented and deserve to be successful.

I am so looking forward to this show! I hope they pick it up in Canada. Arrested Development is the only show I own DVDs for. It would be great if some of the other cast members, such as Jessica Walters and Portia di Rossi, made guest appearances on the new show too!
I really like Kristin Chenoweth (especially since The West Wing), but I can’t remember one show she’s been on that lasted. I think she and Ted McGinley might be the “kiss of death” for a TV show.
