At least there isn’t going to be ANOTHER Law & Order at the 10/9C slot

NBC’s first mistake was replacing Jay with Conan to begin with. Once a week would be the best for Jay in my opinion.

Wow, this is a bad idea. No dramas on NBC at 9pm (CST)EVERY NIGHT? Really?? I for one, will not be watching NBC past 9pm then. Jay Leno is NOT funny. He has funny writers sometimes, but he is not funny. And what a slap in the face to Conan. I also wonder what the content of the NBC dramas will be like since they can’t show them past 9pm. No more “most controversial show ever” promos! LOL…It’s hard to be controversial at 7pm.

jay leno is one of the last to have class.i think he’s the best by far,but maybe not for our trashy youth who enjoy sleezy, indecent tv

I hope that this fails. Not that I don’t like Jay Leno, but this is just horrible. First, late night shows are only funny b/c of the hour that they are on. Second, I think we have seen over and over that variety shows just don’t entertain people anymore. Third, no primetime dramas??? That is insane. I’ll be the first to admit that NBC’s lineup is struggling, but this is a quick fix that will just end up hurting them. And if it works then we’re looking at a whole bunch of the same from other networks. Fourth, poor Conan…what a slap in the face. I’d be looking for a new location if I were him…hello ABC.

I’m GLAD that Conan is taking over the Tonight Show, as he is the FUNNIEST late night talk show host. As for Leno this is a BAD IDEA, he is just NOT FUNNY

  • Jon

Leno is the most annoying man on TV, so good luck with this, NBC. This is a horrible idea. Plus it will mean almost three straight hours of talk shows (with a half-hour break for the news). Overkill, to the say the least. Zucker is a fool and he has slowly torn his network down.

  • theone

Ok because putting on Rosie would be much better, please. Conan is a joke, he’s not funnier than Jay.

  • Steve Richardson

Conan is a funny guy but will have to tone down the weirdness for the Tonight Show. People used to Jay Leno will find Conan jarring. I think Conan can succeed if they give him a chance, though.

  • GinaBallerina

I think this is great news! I hate staying up past 11:30 to watch Jay and now I can see him earlier!

  • JC

This is a really bad idea all around. First, the Tonight Show isn’t really geared toward Conan’s type of writing and Humor, so that was a terrible pick.
They should have kept Leno in the position for a few more years at least. Now attempting to put Leno in a similiar format, an hour earlier is sure to be cancelled and cut back. Dateline used to be on 5 days a week.
Such a waste. Maybe NBC should have put some of Leno’s contract money into development of the good series they already cancelled like Journey Man.
Doesn’t anyone else at NBC have a vision.. what a waste..

A great idea. I love Leno. I am one of the baby boomers who find it very difficult to watch him at the current late hour. I have no plans to watch the Tonught Show after Leno leaves. I’ve watched Conan and but have no appreciation for his brand of humor, but my adult children seem to like him. His appeal must be for the younger generation.

  • G

Leno is great, 10pm slot had nothing worth watching anyway and Conan’s self-deprecating humor is hackneyed. Can Leno pull off 5 nights a week, though?

  • todd

sounds like a good idea to me. i’m over the 60-minute drama shows that creates all of these ‘experts’ in the field of crime, medicine, etc.

  • Thomas

Heh, sounds like not a lot of you weren’t there for the Leno/Letterman saga to replace Carson back in the day.
The *EXACT* same things being said of Conan in this comment thread is EXACTLY what was said about both Leno & Letterman.
Both were too crude, their style of humor didn’t fit the image of the Tonight Show, blah blah blah.
Yet both stepped up, both changed their show, and both adapted to the new time slot and audience.
Lets face facts, Conan’s audience now will not likely be his viewers at 11:30.
His writers will change, the material will change to match the viewer.
JUST like it did for Leno.
JUST like Letterman did when he moved from 12:30 to 11:30 on another network.
Anyone assuming the Conan you see now will be the Conan you see after he takes over is wildly ignorant.
Let me guess, the sky also tends to fall a lot too right?
    Relax.
