Oprah Winfrey has a new home. The TV mogul announced today that she has entered into a multi-year deal to develop and produce scripted series, movies, and documentaries for HBO. The deal signals the end of her long-term pact with ABC, which produced telepics like Oprah Winfrey Presents: Mitch Albom’s For One More Day and the reality show Oprah’s Big Give.
"HBO and Harpo Films are both committed to the highest standards in the entertainment industry, making this a great match," said Kate Forte, Harpo Films’ president. "The format and creativity offered by HBO are unique in television, and the quality and range of their subjects are extraordinary. There is simply no other place like it. We look forward to doing great things together."
Winfrey’s Harpo Inc. is also on schedule to kick off OWN, a new basic cable network that’ll air unscripted programming coproduced with Discovery Communications. Harpo Prods also produces The Oprah Winfrey Show.

No…not another Harpo Special! Give me a break…talk about overkill…and Oprah’s Big Give…how about all the other lost talent in Hollywood. Like they say…it is all in who you know!
OH No! Not the world according to Oprah again! I have never seen what the public thinks is so great about Oprah. She started out just like all the other sleazy talk show hosts and she loves to boast about.. her quote: “I knew I was destined for great things”. Please, give me a break. Oprah’s fame only goes to show how screwed up our world is. Other than her charitable donation, I have not seen anything that she says or does as being great.
Appears there are a few Oprah haters…or should it be called like it TIS…just plain haters?! I think finally HBO may start producing more worthwhile projects in the future. Oprah is well known for her promotion and love of books; newly published, classics and Black literature, her productions & promotions have brought hidden treasures to countless readers and her input will do nothing but raise the quality of HBO programming. Some viewers and critics may even be dragged, screaming and kicking into substance and significance. Kudos to Oprah and HBO!
