Exclusive: 'Stargate' snags Marc's 'Ugly Betty" BF

Tags:

Davidblue_lThis certainly puts the kibosh on a possible Marc-Cliff reunion on Ugly Betty: Cliff’s portrayer, David Blue, is relocating to another freakin’ universe.

Sources confirm to me exclusively that Blue has been tapped to join the cast of Sci Fi Channel’s Stargate Universe, the franchise’s third (and purportedly edgiest) live-action series.

Blue, who joins previously announced headliner Robert Carlyle, plays Eli Wallace, a total slacker who just happens to be an utter genius with anything he puts his mind to — mathematics, computers, video games. A lack confidence has left him with an acerbic sense of humor.

Universe follows a group of soldiers, scientists, and civilians who have been stranded on an ancient ship in the far reaches of space. It’s slated to debut on Sci Fi next fall.

I’m sad for Marc and Cliff, but I’m ecstatic for David, a genuinely decent guy who displayed real star potential on Betty.

Why are you always telling me the best/worst news? I love David Blue and can’t wait to see him next to Robert Carlyle on this show. On the other hand, I adore Cliff and Marc. I feel like I just got a new kitten, but only because my dad was allergic to our puppy and we have to give it away. I.E. Happy and sad at the same time.

So it’s the same kind of role he played in “Moonlight,” right?

  • kristen

i’m totally happy for david, but completely bummed about no marc/cliff reunion. =/

What a shame, I loved him in Ugly Betty and thought he didn’t have nearly the screentime he deserved. Oh well, I guess I’ll have to watch Stargate Universe now. :)

  • NYCGirl

I was just wondering if he’d be back on U.B.

  • Stefan

So – he is the new Version of Sam (Sg1) and McKey (SGA) – lol .. it’s kind of funny that the always have the same basic characters and just cast different people to play them

  • Sidra

Dang. I really liked him and Marc on UB.

I abhor the whole idea of another Stargate, and adding this guy doesn’t help. I hate the Marc/Cliff thing on UB and I hope they don’t go anywhere near that type of story on Stargate: Universe.

If Tricia Helfer could do Burn Notice & BSG at the same time, I’m sure David Blue can do both if he is asked!

  • Ckought

Don’t they shoot on different schedules? He’s not a major character on UB, so it wouldn’t take that much to shoot his scenes out-of-sequence for UB and not interfere with his full-time job.

I’m still not sold on the premise of SGU and so far I’ve been entirely underwhelmed by the casting. I can’t believed they canceled SGA for this. I’ll give it a shot, but I can’t shake the feeling this will be a franchise killer.

  • firbette

So basically, he’s going to be Rodney?

  • Sandra

    Meet Rodney Nr. 2

  • jasonjkyle

i loathed cliff and am thrilled he is not coming back

  • Steven

Dave probably knows more about the Stargate universe than the writers do! He’s going to be great and have the time of his life. Congratulations
