Jack should end up with Audrey again somehow. This was left open last season and I think they should go off into the sunset perhaps with Jack’s daughter who maybe has a child (Jack’s a grandpa). He lost his father, brother, wife. He’s served his country and deserves some kind of civilian life where he can find normalcy and hopefully, happiness. Of course, I vote for the chick ending.

Jack Bauer should become physically (and, for a time, mentally) incapacitated. He should drop off the radar. Then, in the “sequel”, he can be brought out of the shadows to advise the “new Jack Bauer”, thus a)not really killing off Jack, b)not allowing him to find a love interest or happiness, because his past will not allow it, and c)giving good fodder to upcoming episodes.
This IS Hollywood. Sort of like Indiana Jones – he won’t die either.

I hope he doesn’t die, because this would be a great movie. On the other hand, why can’t he pass the TV baton to someone else. Star Trek did it. the show could last without Jack.

  • MC

For crying out loud, of course Jack can have a happy ending. He certainly deserves one.

I would like to see at least some reconciliation with his daughter. I think that could be a huge part of whatever ‘piece’ Jack could find.

End the show, ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!!! Keifer is just SO great in this roll. What on earth would I have to look forward to on Monday nights? Everyone knows not to call my home when the show is on. I would be terribly upset, as you can tell. But I definitely DO NOT want him to die.

For my money, the greatest possible series finale was already used to end Season 4; with Jack Bauer faking his death and the final shot of him walking off into the sunset.

  • Karen

I think it would be fitting to go to up to a day 10, then end it.. Jack is my hero, and needs to stick around. I look foreward to Monday nights.. Jack stick around.

  • Yup

I’m just glad this season is looking promising. They should end it, death or not, before it starts to really suck.

A more realistic ending would be that he gets the girl & the picket fence but not peace of mind (think James Caan in Misery). He’ll spend the rest of his life waiting for a bullet.

I don’t want Jack to die, it wouldn’t do any justice to this wonderful character! but I don’t think a happy ending is his way either! The writers should do something different, all these years they’ve shown us how creative they can be so I’m sure they would find a way!!

  • Ron

    Why can’t we have both?
Have Jack get his happy ending. Then kill him in the final scene. The following season without Kiefer: Who Killed Jack Bauer?
I guess it wouldn’t be a happy ending for Jack, but some happiness before he gets killed…

  • jackburton

Wow. An “exclusive” where nothing is revealed except the POSSIBILITY of Jack Bauer retiring or dying at the end of Season 8. Exactly the same thing I could have made up and still be 100% correct. Like, you know, what an “exclusive”! Seriously, make yourself look self-important much, Ausiello?

  • Cally

My #1 priority is to say ‘thank you’ Keifer for your brilliant performances every week. You don’t get rewarded enough for your fantastic acting ability. Hopefully it doesn’t end next year but if it does I think Jack should finally find peace with himself. He has done far more than should be asked of for his country. We need a positive ending whenever it happens. There is enough sadness going on, we don’t need more.

Jack has to die….and Hollywood will do it like this: Harrowing ending where his life is in doubt…fade to black…fade in to an “old” Jack sitting in a nuthouse w/ a straightjacket on, drooling….”Was it real?” “Was it his imagination?”?!?!?!
