They should move UB to Tuesdays. There are a bunch of shows on Thursdays that I like to watch but none on Tuesdays.
Ugly Betty might not be doing great in the ratings, but it still outperforms episodes of Samantha Who? when it airs without that big Dancing with the Stars lead-in. I think this will be a mistake in the long run. The newly established Thursday of Ugly Betty, Grey’s Anatomy, & Private Practice seems to be doing well.
They should launch this hour of comedy on Tuesdays with the DWTS results show in March. That’s a healthy companion series for it. And isn’t Scrubs over by March 10th? What will go there then? Not to mention Homeland Security and What Would You Do? are a joke. ABC is crazy if they think Thursday needs the overhaul. They have no Tuesday shows at all. What are they thinking?
Wha????? This makes no sense. Is ABC losing money b/c they’re now filming in NY, instead of LA?
I suggest the fans of Ugly Betty (of which I am one) do a Jericho type campaign with ABC. Send comments and feedback to ABC in regards to Ugly Betty so they know how much support it really has. I hope they don’t cancel it.
Not surprised. Once was a great show, with awesome characters. Now, it’s just ridiculous and doesn’t resemble itself anymore. They should’ve taken their time with some of the things that happened the first season so that they didn’t burn out too early, which is in what has already happened.
ABC will keep it around based on its popularity and the awards it got – I wouldn’t be worried if you’re a big fan still.
I stopped watching UG about 2 seasons ago, because they strayed from the main theme of the show — fashion. And it became about Willemina and having a baby, willemina taking over the company — again– Daniel losing the company — again — and the story line just wasn’t refreshed.
i actually stopped watching ugly betty halfway thru last season, but i caught up recently, and the show has been on its game lately.
i’m w/ you ausiello–i don’t like the sound of this.
though if UB does switch nights it does open up my thurs. @ 8 for bones, so that’d be good..
This show def jumped the shark at some point between last season and this one. I am glad to hear that they are taking it off, especially since they are using that time for samantha who! Ugly def has its merits, but the totally unrealistic story lines…its like a day time soap opera. its just not good anymore.
I have to agree with several of the previous comments. I used to love this show but now only watch it through DVR so I can skip ahead if I wish. It’s nothing like its former self and its sad. I’m not saying what they are replacing it with will be any better, just that it’s a sad reality.
There will be only 5 eps left of Ugly Betty after March 26th. My guess if the comedy block tanks, Betty is back for May sweeps. Or if any of the new dramas at 10pm, stumble they might put UB there as well.
ABC doesn’t do their shows any favors when they show 3 weeks on, 2 weeks off, 4 weeks on, 3 weeks off… Any momentum is killed when they do that. Also, this season of Betty has to MOVE. Things happen, but I get no real sense of anything changing. She moves away, she gets accepted into the journalism program, her father has a heart attack–yet nothing really changes. I love this show and wish the network and producers would work to keep it.
A cast of thousands and every one of them is someone you wouldn’t want to ride an elevator with much less spend an hour with. I’m surprised this show was successul. At least now I can look forward to not having to see America Ferrera’s porcine face anymore
I’m actually pleased by the news. I watch Survivor every Thursday and switch back and forth to Betty… now I can watch Survivor in peace and when that seasons complete move onto Betty. I think that they should have just moved Betty and the new shows to Tuesday and left Scrubs lead-in to Greys and Private Practice (3 hours of hospital entertainment).
There is an inherent problem with the show Ugly Betty. The fact that Betty is still ahem, ugly, after three years is silly. The show’s characters don’t grow at all. Some people will say that Betty can’t change because the show is UGLY BETTY. It’s in the name! That is incorrect thinking and you should probably be a TV exec. Any changes they put in Betty’s life just keep reverting to the same old, same old. The show does need a serious reboot.
Ugly Betty is still one of the best shows on network TV. Why, oh, why do all the networks pile their best shows on to Thursday night. There’s a black hole of quality TV on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Spread it around, man!
