Exclusive: 'Moonlight' vamp Alex O'Loughlin returns to CBS

Alexoloughlin_lFinally, I have a bone to throw all you inconsolable Moonlight fans.

The dead drama’s central blood sucker, Alex O’Loughlin, is returning to CBS in an upcoming episode of Criminal Minds, sources confirm to me exclusively.

The change-of-pace hour, which is tentatively scheduled to air in April, will track a case from the POV of a serial killer, played by O’Loughlin.

This is O’Loughlin’s first leap back into TV since Moonlight was laid to rest nine months ago. At press tour last month, CBS president Nina Tassler — who signed the Aussie hunk to a development deal in August — hinted that we may see him back on the network “soon” in a new project.

What say you, Moonlight fans? Happy to see O’Loughlin sinking his teeth into another meaty TV role — even if he’s not literally doing so? Sound off below!

YES! I am for anything with Alex O in it anytime, anyplace.
You just had to bring up that whole Moonlight travesty again, didn’t you.

  • Rueben

I’m glad to see that Alex has gotten a new gig – short though it may be. He deserves his own show and I hope that will come to fruition very soon for him.

I really don’t trust Nina Tassler I think she is just throwing us a bone by making Alex a heavy. Nina should give Alex a yes or no on his new project or cut him loose so he can get work. It is not nice to keep Alex in limbo he is an ACTOR who needs to ACT.

I really wanted him to be a character who was going to head line the much hyped Criminal Minds spin -off.

This maybe a very unpopular among the masses. I am not actor-centric.
I Think Alex is great actor, but I think he is wasting his talent with CBS. While I will watch this episode of Criminal Minds with him in it. I still want more Moonlight and I will continue to hope for more in some form.

I love Alex O no matter what he is in. As well, I would like to see more Moonlight. Hope that the producers come up with something.

      • Shauna

I JUST got into Moonlight, via Netflix, and I’m hooked! PLEASE bring it back!

    • Snowdove

Yes I most definately would like to see him back as Mick St John in
      Moonlight. When the season ended
all we got to see is him kissing
Beth and him closing the door, lets see what happens to the lovers again, since he is a Vampire again.

Oh, thank you, God! The drought is over (at least for one night)! Now if only CBS would cast Alex O’Loughlin in a pilot for next season my life would be complete. Thanks for the scoop!

  • Jennifer

Yes!!! Thanks for letting us know!!

I love Alex, but I still refuse to watch that sad excuse for a channel known as CBS. They have canceled one too many good shows, including Moonlight. I’m over you CBS; You are dead to me.

  • alyssa

  • twiztid
