A mix of Bikini Girl (who was sent home this week!), bad singing, and saucy bon mots from the judges helped take Fox’s American Idol — which premiered the first two episodes featuring its signature Hollywood Week round — to the top of the ratings for the week ending Feb. 8. But even while the show is still TV’s most powerful franchise, it has taken a tumble from the glory days of the past. Compared to last year’s Hollywood Week, whose episodes aired later — Tuesday, Feb. 12, and Wednesday, Feb. 13, a year ago — viewership was down by 500K (2 percent) and 1.7 million (6 percent), respectively.
But American Idol wasn’t the only music-related show on top. The 51st Annual Grammy Awards (No. 3) on CBS also drew a healthy viewership — a rather nice 19 million viewers tuned in, a bump of 11 percent over last year’s show, which also aired on CBS. Earlier in the evening, CBS scored with 60 Minutes (No. 4), which featured the first interview (by Katie Couric) with Capt. Sully Sullenberger, hero pilot of the Hudson River plane landing. While the 16.7 million who tuned in was no season high for the series, it did best the series’ season average by 1.4 million viewers.
The rest of the Top 20 is nearly identical to last week’s: Six of CBS’ signature procedurals dominated, with the network’s (and TV’s) top comedy, Two and a Half Men (No. 5), in the mix as well. ABC served up Grey’s Anatomy (No. 7), Desperate Housewives (No. 11), Private Practice (enjoying a bump from No. 32 to No. 13 this week because of the Grey’s crossover event), surging reality series The Bachelor (No. 19), and Lost (No. 19). Fox turned up with House (No. 8), Lie to Me (No. 12), and 24 (No. 18), while cellar-dwelling NBC and the CW didn’t manage to crack the Top 20. The full Top 20 — complete with total viewerships — is after the jump.

Is NBC still a network?
That Lodger add is making me sick. Please include a plug for the original as well.
I loved this show better when it was called the Gong show.
I’m so sick of looking at the unstable mental cry baby on the show. The girl has menatl health issues.
I’m so tire of looking at the girl with the mental health issues. The cry baby psycho girl.
Two and a Half Men and Lie to Me are the best shows on television. These shows should be in the top two spots on the ratings chart.
