Exclusive: 'CSI: NY' collars an American Idol

Music careers are so 2008. Following in the footsteps of Chris Daughtry, American Idol alum Katharine McPhee has booked a guest gig on CSI: NY.

In an episode tentatively scheduled to air in April, the singer will play… er, a singer. There will even be a scene in which she is… well… singing. All kidding aside, the prime-time appearance is actually bringing McPhee back once again to her roots — she was an actress first, then a recording artist. (Recently, you’ve probably seen her opposite Anna Farris in The House Bunny.)

McPhee will next begin work on the romantic comedy Wedlock opposite Brothers & Sisters‘ Dave Annable.

So what’s your take, people? Coming down with McPheever or so over the celeb cameo thing? Your take below.

McPhee is McBoring and she is not a good actress… singer, yes, annoying, yes, actress, no. Please go away.

I’ll watch this. McPhee is one of the most beautiful and gorgeous and sexiest women on the planet. And I’m curious if she can act. I didn’t see The House Bunny (it looks atrocious). So I’ll watch this to see.

  • Vanessa

Well at least it’s not Beyonce bringing her horrible acting skills to CSI: NY

  • Kelly

Yawn for more CSI NY stunt casting. I wish they’d focus on properly and consistently developing the regular characters instead of this nonsense.

  • Christina

Hmm Interesting. Not a big fan of hers but I love CSI NY so I’ll watch.
PS Can’t wait for the Danny/Lindsay wedding and baby! I gotta get that in anywhere. I mean is anything else really important happening on the show?

  • Catherine

I didn’t watch American Idol – but I did watch The House Bunny. McPhee was relatively endearing in that and I think she can act. It’s too bad they’re making her play a singer though, that’s just cliche.

  • Staci

She’s actually going to shine more as an actress than a singer in the near future. She just needs the opportunities to show it.

  • J

McPheever all the way!!! I can’t wait, she is a great singer and actress. Way to go Kat!!

  • Jenny

What a joke. Who cares about who is singing in the background of a scene. Mcphee is a joke anyway.

  • Kristina

Katharine is McTalented. Can’t wait to see her acting skills shine on CSI!

  • Sean

there’s no good reason why anyone wouldn’t like Kathaine McPhee. We went to sister schools and i can say from experience she’s an unbelievable sweetheart and that breed of talented that would inspire jealousy from a nun, if that is she in fact wasn’t so sweet. and for the record, jealousy (even from a nun) isn’t one of the ‘good’ reasons I was talking about.

  • Andrea

Yaaayy!! kat on CSI!! in will deff watch!!

  • Taylor Hicks

    Meh.

  • Kevin

Why didn’t they get a more recent AI alum if that’s what they were going for? McPhee’s career has never gotten off the ground.

ILL WATCH IT!!!! HUGE FAN!!! MCPHEEEEEVERRRR!!!
