'Nip/Tuck' scoop: 'Lost' grad is Sean's MIA bro

Tags:

Neilhopkins_lSean McNamara’s family tree is having a little work done.

Nip/Tuck has tapped Lost alum Neil Hopkins (he played Charlie’s heroin-addicted sibling, Liam) to join the cast as Sean’s long-lost brother, Brendan, sources confirm to me exclusively.

An FX rep wouldn’t confirm the hire, but a Nip/Tuck insider describes the character — who’ll be introduced at the tail end of the show’s upcoming sixth season — as a recovering meth addict (pigeonholed much, Neil?) who has been living on a nature preserve. “Sean thought his brother had died,” explains the source. “So he’s definitely surprised to see him.”

Nip/Tuck‘s fifth season concludes on March 3. FX has yet to announce a launch date for season 6, but Wikipedia puts it at early 2010, followed by the series-concluding seventh season in 2011. Take that with a grain of salt, though.

What do you think about Sean getting a brother? Intriguing development, or the latest in a long line of shark-jumping moments for the show? Sound off below!

    Ausiello,
The show airs on Tuesdays…March 5th is a Thursday…Does that make it March 3rd or 10th?

  • Andy

I think the show has stopped trying to recruit new viewers and is merely satisfying and trying top itself to please the fans. Introducing a meth-addicted brother isn’t good enough, there must be more behind it. Will he too sleep with Julia? Will he harass one of Sean’s childern?

  • Stephie

There’s only so many “shocking” things before they jump the shark…which they probably did last season. I still watch anyways. I hope Christian doesn’t die.

  • LuiGi

So they are already taping season six episode!!
So maybe we’ll see them before Jan. 2010!!
    Right?!?…i hope!!

  • Danny

Someone needs to read the article more carefully, it says March 3rd.

  • Austin

Isn’t jumping the shark sort of the point for this show? I mean, it’s so relentlessly over-the-top, you don’t even care what ludicrous twist comes next. You’re just along for the ride.

  • Luisa

    LIAM!!

  • BHM1304

Who cares about this dude? The question is, is Katee Sackhoff’s “Teddy” still going to be around?

  • Matt

I’m just excited to say I went to college with this guy…go Neil!

  • Stephie

    Danny,
Ausiello changed the article after the comment.

agree with AUSTIN .. the show is so over the top, so there’s no jumping the shark. But that’s one reason why i love it. It’s just one crazier thing after another. And most of the time, the secrets are not kept on forever like on other shows. One ep Christian gives the kid colagen and lies ab it, the next ep it’s out, without the sky falling down. Julia’s poisoning was dragged out a bit, but otherwise I LOVE the lack of cliffhangers on the show.
    Loving Christian and Liz.

Why did I think this was the last season of Nip/Tuck?

  • Susie

OMG! I LOVE Liam from LOST. He’s one of my favorite actors from the show! Nip/Tuck was smart to pick him up.

  • Jim

Nip/Tuck is all about shock value and a long lost brother is definitely shocking. Personally, I can’t wait to see it. I just hope we won’t have to wait until 2010

  • May

He’s even hotter than Christian! I’ll be watching!
