Jade Goody will not film her own death

Though she’s spent the past seven years living her life on television, British reality star Jade Goody, who learned last month that her cervical cancer is terminal, will not spend her last days on camera. According to spokesman Max Clifford, reports that Goody would film her death for a reality show are ”totally untrue. It was never thought about, never mentioned. It won’t happen — it was never even discussed.”

The 27-year old received her cervical cancer diagnosis on-camera last August while filming an Indian version of Big Brother and learned in early February that she has just months to live. Though Goody struck exclusive print and television deals to cover her wedding last weekend as a way to make money for her two young sons, she has no further intention to publicize her life. Clifford said the deals ”made a lot of money for her — all of which will go into trusts for her boys,” but right now, the plan is ”to be treated by the medical team, and get everything as good as possible for as long as possible.”

The television deal had been in place since last June and was supposed to last a year, but the end date was pushed up to the wedding last weekend’ once the diagnosis became terminal, Clifford said.

Since Goody’s diagnosis in August, the UK has seen a 20 percent spike in cervical cancer screenings, which Clifford said Goody is happy about. ”She’s said, ‘Hopefully people will learn by my misfortune and will not have to go through what I went through.”’

For Americans who don’t know her, Jade Goody was a complete nobody, a kind of white-trash style British woman who turned into a big celebrity by starring in starring one reality show after another. I’m sure she’s been on at least 7 different reality shows. She’s like Omarosa x 100. She has always been very very unlikeable, but it’s really sad, though because she’s now dying, a very slow and visible death.

Lets hope all American are not like you Alan.

Cervical cancer is a serious issue, no matter what your opinion of one who has been diagnosed. The good news is it can be prevented and treated when caught at an early stage. Get your yearly check up ladies!

I just don’t understand how someone who’s 27 dies of cervical cancer. With all that money and fame, did she not have people around her telling her to get checked up regularly? Didn’t she find out too late for the cancer to be cured? Or was it simply beyond her control, an act of God?

Goody comes from the last section of society that it’s apparently still okay to hate, and that no one is expected to understand. The fact is, though, that she has had a tough life, with her father dying of an overdose and her mother becoming disabled after a car crash, leaving Goody to care for her from a very young age. She came upon some good fortune through big brother, and despite the bile and hatred thrown at her, she has made the best of the situation she found herself in and experienced a level of comfort she could never have hoped for before. It is no wonder that she has been able to see the silver lining even in this situation, raising money for her boys and gaining satisfaction from the increase in cancer screenings resulting from the publicity her illness has caused. Her admitted ignorance is a product of the life she has had to live – her spirit of endurance is hers alone.

She didn’t ignore any signs she had abnormal cells removed at 16yrs old & 3yrs ago she collapsed 4 times with stomach cramps. She went to doctors who kept giving her the all clear advising that she was ok when clearly she wasn’t.The doctors have admitted that they failed to find her cancer, so although she has raised awareness for us to make sure we get checked regularly for our smears…who’s to say they wont miss it again for any of us too. My wishes are with you Jade & your boys, I know I would be so angry bcoz it wasn’t that you ignored your illnes the doctors failed you! xxxxx

To whoever put the comment about fame and money – it doesnt matter how much fame or money pne person has, once u have cancer thats it. No amount of money or fame can prevent it and that was a stupid remark to come out with/ No one deserves to go through what Jade is going through, so what she has made her mistakes but so does everybody. I wish her and her family the best. xxx Love u Jade xxx

What a sad, sad situation. Anyone that can actually still insult Jade Goody at this time is unbelievable. Whether you like her, agree with her decisions or whatever you have to admire her. If you don’t why not just keep it to yourself and stop reading and watching about her. I have never disliked Jade and feel desperately sad for her. Jade is just 27 years of age with two darling sons, I cannot even begin to imagine how she and her nearest are feeling. I watched my Father die of cancer and it is horrendous. No matter who you are it is heart breaking. So to all of you that has written or is thinking about writing something negative DON’T BOTHER and stop looking at things about Jade. All I can say is God Bless Jade and I pray that she can have just a little bit longer on this earth and be as comfortable as possible during that time.

First of all Judy, I’m not American. Second of all? What’s your problem?? Yes, it’s incredibly sad, but don’t act like Jade Goody has been a saint all these years. Until she was diagnosed, she was one of the most unpopular and disliked TV personalities in the UK. You can’t deny that, Judy.

  • Alan

Tina, your thoughts are very nice and I agree that now is not the time to be negative. But Jade Goody chose to become a TV personality by acting the way she did, and whether you like it or not, she will be judged that way. From the Shilpa Shetty “Poppadum” fiasco to her antics on Big Brother, you can’t expect everyone to turn her into a saint all of a sudden. She chose to do and say the things she did on TV and people will remember her for that. Yes, it’s very very sad, and heartbreaking, but you can’t expect people to ignore the things she did that made her famous in the first place.

How can people make these comments still about jade it really annoys me the poor girl if she went on a spending spree to spend her wealth on stupid things before she died she would be a bad mother and shes not shes trying to earn as much as possible to secure her childs education in the only way she knows how to make money fast and to that i salute her .she needs to know when she passes her children have everything she didnt have and why shouldnt she ? you do what you have to jade you are looking after your kids and highlighting the need for earlier smears as well as making teenagers seriously think about having the cervical cancer immunisation well done love your a star before you go on about jade think about two other female reality stars on tv now they are a disgrace!

I find this ‘no-one does/does not deserve cancer’ baffling and irrational. Which tablet of stone is this written on?? It is not a question of deserve at all.
Cancer is a fact of life, so is death for that matter. It makes no rational sense to say that because someone is dying you can no longer have negative views about their philosophical outlook. Do we feel affectionately for Hitler because he’s dead now?
That does not mean I am comparing Jade Goody to Hitler. It is the basic rational principle that I’m highlighting.
Jade Goody spent some of her life in the public eye. She was brash and repellant throughout much of it…fact. If you are like that, and in the public eye, you will be disliked by some people. I see no reason why those people have to now pretend as if their opinions must be smothered because she is dying. Moreover, it is disengenuious, in my view, to say how sad we are. We will forget her. It is the preserve of those who really know and love her to grieve.
