Weekend casting scoops: 'Gilmore' girl rushed to 'ER'! 'Attorney' retains 'Grey's' grad!

Alexismelissa_lWe interrupt your regularly-scheduled weekend activities to bring you these urgent casting bulletins:

• Now ER‘s series finale really qualifies as Must-See TV. In her first major TV gig since Gilmore Girls signed off two years ago, Alexis Bledel has inked a deal to guest-star in ER‘s two-hour swan song on April 2. According to People, she’ll play a new intern named Julia Wise in the episode, which chronicles a 24-hour shift at County General.

• Ex-Grey’s Anatomy doc Melissa George has nabbed the female lead in the CBS drama pilot US Attorney, sources confirm to me exclusively. She’ll play Susan, ADA and ex-wife to the section chief (played by Jason Clarke). Attorney centers around a team of federal prosecutors in the U.S. Attorney’s office in Manhattan.

You may now resume your regularly-scheduled weekend activities.

Would be great to see Bledel again. Haven’t seen her in something since GG.

I wonder if there is a chance that Alexis could helm a spin-off from ER concerning interns (much like GREYS ANATOMY)? Just wondering, but probably not in the works. It could be an idea that works.

i’m not sure how I feel about Alexis being on ER (though I am willing to give her the benefit) I do like that they are ending echoing the beginning of the show (the pilot was actually called ’24 hours’).
and no they are not going to spin off the show into a copy cat of Grey’s with the interns at the lead. they have no need to since they always kicked off the seasons introducing ‘the newbies’ and folded them into things way better than Grey’s ever has. so the “spinoff” would be simply more seasons of the show. not a new show

I’m happy to see Alexis back on TV but I’m sad it’s only for 1 episode.

  • Michelle

Happy to see Alexis on ER! But MG’s pilot? Ugh. Does this mean she’ll actually have to pick an accent? Somehow I doubt a US attorney would be randomly American/British/Australian.

Great the least talented actress on earth ruining my final episode of ER!!!

When you said ‘casting scoop’, I thought it was going to be someone important.
In an episode with George Clooney and Susan Sarandon, Alexis Bledel is a small fish.
Nice to see her again but no big deal.

I do not understand Melissa George’s appeal. Maybe it’s just because Alias ruined her forever for me, but it boggles the mind.

  • Chris

So Rory Gilmore must have ditched the Obama campaign early on and opted for medical school. At Harvard, possibly with Paris? LOL

  • matt

    Melissa George is annoying.

  • Holly

I’m glad to see Alexis Bleidel come back to TV: that may actually get me to watch ER for the first time in at least 10 years ;)
As for Melissa George, I didn’t mind her in Alias, but I don’t see what’s so special about her.

  • cb

Who cares about Melissa George. What’s happening with Brooke Smith?

  • jackie

I guess it’s good for Bledel that she can still get some work considering her complete lack of acting ability. This role must be that of the twitchiest medical intern ever. Folks will have to keep a count going of how many times she wrings her hands and bites her lip. Acting anxious does not equal acting.

  • Mary

Since ALIAS I have a difficult time even looking @ Melissa George!!! I suppose that means she’s a good actress; I will check out her new show.
