Okay, well, at least another year or so anyway. Rose Byrne got the gossip wheels spinning this week when MTV News quoted her as saying her friends had been auditioning for a long-discussed live-action Star Wars television series. But EW has confirmed with a Lucasfilm rep that a casting agent in Australia is “doing some preliminary ground work, but official casting will not start until the scripts are complete.” At the earliest, the series would go into production in 2010, the rep added.

That seems within sight to me.
Nooooo! Lucas you have enough money. You have already drained every last drop of affection we ever had for the original for 30+ years. This is beyond whipping a dead horse, now it’s whipping the fossilized remains of a horse that died a million years ago. Find another project to violate.
This is what many of us fans have really been waiting for. Good news! Can not wait to see what Lucas has is store for us next.
Anything less than the writing, directing, and visual FX quality of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA will be disappointing. And please, George, don’t go all kid-pandering on this project. PG-13! If we see anything like the antics of Jar Jar or even Episode II’s C-3P0, we will tune out REAL quick.
I want an awesome Star Wars Battlefront III game now!!! It has been long enough so it better be awesome. Hopefully Pandemic doesnt screw it up because the Free Radical stuff leaked onto the net looked very promising.
To Hanspoopsfirst, yes I would much rather have a new Battlefront game instead of this live action tv show. I read that Pandemic has denied having Battlefront since it was taken away from the Rebellion development studio. Battlefront III now George Lucas!!! Put it in capable hands please.
I never could have imagined that a fandom would reject the creator of its canon. You won’t find Harry Potter fans complaining about J.K. Rowling’s marketing tactics, and LOTR fans practically worship Tolkein.
I hope Rose didn’t get into any trouble by sharing that tidbit of information. That would stink.
You dont see JRR Tolkien or JK Rowling poo pooing on their creations like George Lucas has or has allowed.
Wow, this is what many of us die hard fans have really been waiting for. Good news! Can’t wait to see what Lucas has is store for us all next.
I’ll bet they hire Chris Doohan to be a Jedi
Yeah after Lucas ruined the whole Star Wars thing for me with his crap-fest sequels AND THEN him and Stevie Spielberg did a tag team beat down of Indiana “Geriatric” Jones…I think Georgie Boy should move on from his Cash Cow…After seeing the trailers for the new Star Trek movie, I think that Trek is on it’s way to reaching it’s full potential and taking the top spot as the ultimate space opera with lots of fun and lots of action…go back to Shady Pines Nursing Home Georgie Boy!!
They really need to make a series based on The Heir to the Empire trilogy. I realize they would need to re-cast Luke, Leia Han etc but I personally would be fine with that if it meant seeing a totally gnarly version of Heir. They already have an awesome story line.
One of the main problems with eps I,II & III (besides being totally crappy and horrible – well, III was pretty good) was they relied way too much on CGI. Bring back the human element of the original trilogy. It makes for much a much better show and, in the case of a TV show, would be way more cost effective.
But…regardless of what they make, its SW which means Ill be watching no matter what.

Well…Tolkein has been dead for 36 years….
George Lucas really does have no scruples, does he? He is now void creatively.
Any new is good news.. well I guess good news would be better.
