Casting scoops: 'ER', 'Grey's,' 'Medium,' and more 'Grey's'!

Balthazargetty_l
What would a Monday Wednesday be without a fresh batch of mostly-exclusive casting scoops? A pretty dull Monday Wednesday.

•    There’s life after Brothers & Sisters for Balthazar Getty, who has inked a deal to guest star in an episode of NBC’s Medium directed by his good friend (and Medium star) Patricia Arquette. He’ll play a wealthy real estate magnate whose wife goes missing. Ironically, the ep will air in the spring, right around the time Getty makes his final appearance as a series regular on B&S. What a coinky-dink!

•    Marilu Henner is the latest name actor to join ER‘s all-star finale on April 2. The Taxi alum will play the mother-of-the-groom from hell whose antics land her and her future daughter-in-law in the hospital on their big day.

•    Amy Madigan is reprising her role as Seattle Grace’s on-call shrink next month on Grey’s Anatomy, only this time it’s not Meredith she’ll be psychoanalyzing, it’s Owen (Kevin McKidd). As I teased in last week’s Ask Ausiello, the ex-military doc’s post-traumatic stress disorder will flare up, causing him to physically hurt Cristina. Also returning to Grey’s is Callie’s dad, played by Hector Elizondo. Pops, er, pops up in April and is shocked to discover that his daughter is now into girls.

This just in: You can now follow me and my scoops at twitter.com/ewausiellofiles!

Odd: Amy Madigan is playing a psych on Greys and a psycho on ER virtually at the same time. Is she trying to live up to her last name?

Is Balthazar still boinking that skank Sienna Miller?

  • Joy

Oh, I love Hector Elizondo! Now I’m motivated to watch the show again. Do you know when that episode will air?

Cool – can’t wait to see Amy Madigan back on Grey’s. Should be some great scenes between her and Kevin McKidd. I hope Owen doesn’t hurt Cristina badly. Glad they will show him getting help.

Yes Balthazar is still with the Skank. Silly Balty, you lost a great gig cause you forgot, Bros before Hos.

  • Samantha

Anonymous, no he’s not, but I don’t think that exactly makes a difference.

  • Sylvia

Great that Hector Elizondo is returning as Callie’s dad. Will we ever see her mom on Grey’s Anatomy? Maybe they could get Rita Moreno to play her.

  • disappointed

OK, I forgave you one lame casting scoop on Monday, but here’s another!! News of both Grey’s castings/appearances are at least a week old by the time you have reported them. And you actually get people to PAY you to report this “breaking news”??? Wow.

  • Michelle

Next month? Amy Madigan won’t be on until NEXT MONTH?! Thanks Shonda, for milking this PTSD thing for all it’s worth. NOT. Well, if anyone can pull this thing off and not make us hate Owen for it, it’s Kevin McKidd.

I was hoping it was going to be Derek that will be psychoanalyzed on “Grey’s Anatomy.” Owen needs it, too, but so does Derek. He needs to realize the number he did on Meredith. She was always aware she had issues. He’s been completely clueless about his; he’s been the one more at fault and not her.

  • Gay Lee

Hector Elizondo is one of my favorite actors and I look forward to everything he does. He’ll be great on Grey’s Anatomy. I also enjoy Amy Madigan’s acting and hope she will continue on Grey’s (hey, don’t they ALL need a little help, after all?)

Can’t wait to see the scene with Owen and Cristina. It’s sure to be a million kinds of intense, and fantastic material for both of the fantastic actors.

  • Mandy

Ausiello, I love you because you give awesome scoop.
But I hate when you try to mislead us to make spoilers sound more serious than they are:
“the ex-military doc’s post-traumatic stress disorder will flare up, causing him to physically hurt Cristina”
You make it sound like he hit her because he was upset; but he was actually just having a bad dream and hit her by accident.
