Exclusive: Elizabeth Mitchell trading 'Lost' for 'V'?

Categories: Lost

I sure hope this doesn’t mean what I think it does: Lost heroine Elizabeth Mitchell has been cast in ABC’s eagerly anticipated V pilot.

Are you thinking what I’m thinking — that this confirms Juliet as the major character who gets bumped off at this season’s end? Yeah, I kinda thought you might be with me on that one.

However, my moles at ABC and Warner Bros. (which is producing V) say we need to chill, because Mitchell is just a guest star on V. But, however much I may want to chill, that’s pretty hard to do, since everyone told me the same thing when tailie Cynthia Watros booked a pilot (and two months later, Libby was pushing up daisies).

So what do you think? Am I making much ado about nothing? Or is Juliet a goner? And in either case, how much cooler a project is V now that Mitchell’s attached? I’m thinking “way.” Your take below…

'Family Guy' to feature boss Peter Chernin on Sunday

Categories: TV Biz

Outgoing News Corp. President Peter Chernin gets the last laugh on Sunday, March 22, when he lends his voice to Fox’s Family Guy. In the episode, Chernin, who will formally step down from his post in June, plays himself as he hears a show pitch from Peter Griffin (voiced by creator Seth MacFarlane). Griffin is peddling an animated show about handicapped ducks and Chernin only agrees to hear it because Peter’s wife, Lois, landed a job in the Fox news division.

Handi-Quacks is going to be the next Simpsons,” promises Griffin. “We fire the jokes at ya like an automatic weapon of comedy. We throw a curve ball joke at you, hits you right in the head, you go, ‘Wow! What happened?!’”

Once Chernin abdicates his post, he’ll begin a lucrative, six-year film and production pact with 20th Century Fox.

Blind item: Guess the suicide shocker!

Categories: Blind Item

Ausielloblinditem_lSitting down? ‘Cause you’ll want to be when you hear what I have to say.

A major character on a show we are obsessed with will commit suicide before the season is over — and no one will see it coming. The shocking death will send shockwaves through the show and the fallout will be immense.

Spoilerphobes may want to hit the nearest exit, because I’m about to give you a hint…

I learned of this death after I compiled my 2009 season-ending death chart, so it is not reflected on there. And it may never
be. It’s a DEFCON 1 spoiler, so I’m proceeding with the utmost caution.
I may, at some point between now and when the episode airs, stealthily
update the chart with this catastrophic development. Or I may not. Just
to be safe, you may want to refresh the page at least once a day.

In the meantime, let’s get those guesses flowing in the comments section. Just to recap what we know:

•    Major character
•    Major show
•    Not featured in death chart

Let the speculation begin…

Oh, and to my many sources/friends/family/EW bosses, don’t waste your
time grilling me for extra clues. This blind item’s staying blind. For
now at least.

Ratings: March Madness shakes up Thursday

Categories: TV Ratings

With CBS’ coverage of the NCAA basketball tournament preempting juggernauts Survivor and CSI, competitors Bones, The Office, and 30 Rock all saw modest increases in viewership on Thursday night. Bones led the 8 p.m. bloc, narrowly besting CBS’s March Madness coverage (which averaged 9.7 million viewers that hour). Grey’s Anatomy and The Office saw gains over last week, while Hell’s Kitchen fell slightly, and 30 Rock picked up about 600,000 viewers. While down slightly from last week’s episode with George Clooney, ER still finished with its second-strongest showing of the season, but it still wasn’t enough to top Private Practice.

'Celebrity Apprentice' exclusive: Piers Morgan to visit for two episodes

Categories: TV Biz

Celebrity Apprentice
season 1 winner Piers Morgan has told EW exclusively that he’ll be stopping by the latest installment to be “Donald’s eyes and ears” for two episodes starting April 19. Morgan, who is currently filming auditions for the fourth season of America’s Got Talent, boasted, “I am and remain the only Celebrity Apprentice. Nothing I’ve seen so far lives up to my mantle.”

So what will it be like when Morgan — who says he’s “not massively impressed” with Celebrity Apprentice‘s second season thus far — drops by? He tells EW, “It all gets very, very heated.”

Exclusive first look at cast of 'Stargate: Universe'

Categories:

Stargatexl_l3
At some point during the series finale of Battlestar Galactica tonight, Sci Fi will unveil a 30-second trailer for Stargate: Universe featuring a first look at the show’s crew. Actually, make that a second look. This exclusive cast shot above is, technically speaking, the first look.

Study it. Discuss it. Share it with friends. And then try connect the names with the faces, ’cause I don’t have the time to do that whole left-right-front row-back row thing.

Here are those names now (again, in no particular order): Robert Carlyle, Lou Diamond Phillips, Justin Louis, Brian J. Smith, Elyse Levesque, David Blue, Alaina Huffman, Jamil Walker Smith, and Ming-Na.

Okay, I’ll get you started: Carlyle is front and center.

SG:U, which is being billed as the edgier cousin to Stargate Atlantis and Stargate SG-1, debuts this fall.

'Big Love' scoop: Bill Paxton previews killer finale

Categories: Big Love

TV’s best drama series, Big Love, wraps its near-perfect third season Sunday with an episode that features a shocking announcement, a major death, and more twists and turns than a Rold Gold factory. To mark the occasion, the star of said best drama series on TV, Bill Paxton, dropped by my office earlier this week to discuss such Big issues as Sunday’s climax, Bill’s near-death experience at the end of last week’s ep, and which of his three wives is his favorite. Enjoy!
