while i am hoping Stephanie March stays and I am thrilled Jeri Ryan will be joining – without Mariska I am out… may be time to retire the show it is getting a bit old

  • MC

As a huge Chuck fan I find it oddly entertaining that basically anytime there’s news about NBC that is not about Chuck the majority of the comments and conversation inevitably head that direction anyways.
Cmon Zucker and Silverman, appease the rabid masses and give Chuck a renewal.

  • Ragna

Nora: Actually, while CSI has lost viewers since William’s departure, it still leads in the ratings every week. And it still usually lands in the top 10 of the Nielsen’s ratings.
As for SVU, I only watch occasionally, and while I’m not a huge fan of Benson and Stabler, I think in this case the show is going to suffer if they leave. The original L&O picks great actors to cycle in and out, and that’s why it keeps going. CI does really well with it’s two team format. But SVU, I think, will do badly if one or both of them leave. They’re so critical to the show that their presence is needed more than just wanted.

@ NC, yes I’ve noticed this on several different sites, seems like half the comments here are for Chuck too. Chuck must have a large fan base bacause people are always worked up about it (including me lol)

  • Amy

    It’s not a doink-doink. Believe me. It’s my text message tone. It’s a bohm-bohm. LORDER!!!!!

  • Syberwolf

Well, I hope we get Benson and Stabler back because it would be hard to replace them this far along in the season…that’s why I sorta don’t watch the original L&O anymore, I don’t know anyone. I hope everything goes smoothly and we have everything the same for next season…As for Chuck…best show ever..I think they need to move the Chuck and Sara storyline line along one way or the other but other than that, it’s a super fun lighthearted show and definitely deserves another season or 7…

  • Syberwolf

Sorry..I meant this far along in the series…

My experience with cop shows is the same as Andrew’s. I can’t watch cop shows but law and Order:SVU. The big draw for me was Mariska, She was what drew me to the show in the first place. I love Chris, and would watch if he stayed even if MH left for the sake of supporting him, but definitely not as religiously as I do now. If MH and CM left, I’m out.

  • Leslie

No way would it be the same without Benson and Stabler. Would love to see Stephanie March back on regularly. Without Meloni and Hargitay, won’t be worth watching.
NOT the same as other L&O’s. CI hasn’t been as good since they started the every other week thing, not to mention switching the alternate pair out every season or two. Jack McCoy is the only reason that I still watch the original occasionally. The new ADA (Cutter?) is a twit, and I still miss “Lenny” and “Ed.”
Here’s a question: does NBC see these comments and decide they better pony up, or do the stars see them and demand outrageous salaries, pricing themselves out of the game?

At the beginning of February, Chris gave an interview saying he was interested in doing an eleventh season of SVU. Let NBC/Wolf Films take him up on it. If Mariska wants to leave, let her go. Take her salary and hire two talented actors to be new partners for Elliot and Fin, let Sgt. Munch be the squad supervisor so we see him more often and then hire writers who actually know how to tell a story. Some of Mariska’s fans may stop watching but the millions of people who dropped the show from their “Must See TV” list could be brought back if the quality of the program went back up. SVU hasn’t been as good since Neil Baer tried to fix something that wasn’t broken back in season 7. The show can survive without the lead actors, but it’s dying on the vine with the increasingly terrible scripts over the past four seasons. If you want to keep the show, put the money where it needs to go.

Law and Order: SVU is one of my favorite shows, i watch it all the time, especially the new episodes. It was actually Mariska and Chris that drew me to the svu. I watch SVU because of Mariska and Chris. So if they leave, then i will stop watching it. So I really hope that both Mariska and Chris stay on for the season eleven. And if they do, I hope that their characters get together on the show, you know, be more that partners/friends. Its obvious their characters like each other, they have know each other for ten years and they like and care for each other. Anyways,I hope that Mariska and Chris stay on SVU for the eleventh season.
    LOVE THEM BOTH!!!!

  • Karin

There is NO WAY the show could survive without EITHER of them. I love me some Fin & Munch but the show could not sustain itself without Benson &/or Stabler.
I mean the show sucked when Mariska left on maternity leave -
I don’t think Mariska would sign on foranother season without Chris and vice versa. – and I’d hate to see NBC try and make it work without them. It would be a pathetic attempt.
I think 10 seasons is more than enough. Although I would like to see more character development in terms of Olivia actually getting a life (haha) I would totally understand if Mariska didn’t want to sign-on again bc of her son.

  • Whitney

Chris and Mariska’s relationship MAKE the entire show!!!!! Renewing the contract is useless if they don’t return. I will not watch the show if Mariska is not there. To NBC: No Mariska= one less viewer

  • Ruth

I want to see more of Richard Belzer and Ice-T. I love Mariska and Chris but feel that a new blood could be brought in.

  • laura

    olivia and elliot ARE svu.
mariska and chris (mariska mainly) are the reason i watch this show.
if they go, unfortunately i go too.
