His death is just a excuse for the author’s poor character writing skills.

WOW! Congrats to Kal Penn for pursuing his political passions! The guy’s much more prolific than he seems–not just Kumar or the “new” guy on House.

  • nrfan

wow i didn’t know he was going to work in the white house. that’s awesome, good for kal. as for the storyline…eh not much liking that we’re probably never going to know why kutner killed himself, since david shore seems hooked on his “lack of reason” crap. just seems like he should tie up loose ends and give us an explanation. after two years of this character i think the fans deserve a reason. but on the positive side, more huddy! yay!

  • Bridge

I must say, I was absolutely shocked to see them kill off Kutner like that, but now that I know that Kal Penn is going to work in the White House, well I’m so much more supporting of the idea.
I’m now quite interested to see where this story line is heading now too.

  • marla

haha I can’t believe kal mentions working at the wh and the rest of the interview questions still relate to house. compared to the grandeur of his future, he’s probably forgotten the name of the character he played on house.

  • Anna

Well..I’m not really mad about him leaving. I’m glad it wasn’t Cuddy or Wilson. I can’t wait for more HOUSE&CUDDY. But I hate Cameron. Thanks Ausiello!!! I luv ya!

“I can’t believe Obama took away Kutner. Screw that… House is more important than Obama”
    So True So True

  • Shannon

I feel like Shore & Jacobs inadvertently confirmed it was a suicide.

  • Phil

BTW, “that ‘new’ guy on House” was the best out of all of ‘em, even though they gave him the least amount of screen time (not including Chase and Cameron). I don’t think House will be as good without Kutner.

About the real life suicide — someone really close to me committed suicide, and it wasn’t surprising because she had been depressed for a long time. But, at the same time, she would threaten it so often, that people (me included) kind of didn’t think she would actually do it anymore. So, when she did, it ended up being shocking.
I think people that kill themselves come in different types of packages. Some there are signs, other, may there not be, or the signs are so subtle that people just don’t notice, or chose to ignore.
I liked it that they put the number for the suicide hotline in the end. I’m sure someone, somewhere might’ve needed it.

    I second that comment:
    WOW.

I love Kal Penn and I’m excited he’ll be working for Obama. I hope they post some info at whitehouse.gov. Very, very happy news!!!

  • mer

“Do the number of *** mean the same number of letters in a name, referring to who killed Kutner? That means someone with a six letter name did it.”
More likely it’s They’ve killed Kutner, or something similar.

  • Matt

So, since we never actually see anything but Kutner’s legs, was he actually there for that episode (I didn’t pay attention to the credits)?

  • Casey

Bravo, this was really quite a shock. I didn’t read anything online or see any promos that tipped me off about this. This was excellent for the show, and for the network.
Congratulations to Mr. Penn for his position in the Obama administration, as well.
That said, I can’t help but feel bad that one of the very few (non-stereotypical) Indian characters on TV is gone. Mr. Penn earlier did the Indian community a great service with the “Harold and Kumar…” movie, precisely because the focus wasn’t on the characters as stereotypes, and that continued with his portrayal of a character who just happened to be of Indian descent on “House”. That it was no big deal on the show WAS the point.
I thought that this was TV at its most shocking, surprising and moving, but also I must note that there are very few positive portrayals of Indians on American TV.
