The show will not survive if they replace Chris & Mariska. I am sorry but that article is right..you can’t retool the show after all these years. Those two make the show. I will stop watching if they leave.

I can flat out say that I will not continue watching this show if Chris and Mariska are not there. They make the show for me!

How 4 sitcom actors in the 90′s can get million dollar an episode paydays but actors on a physical and emotional roller coaster hour long show can’t even get close I will never know. Seinfeld in case you dont know what sitcom i was referring to.

  • Bobbi

They make the show. I’d love to see Stephanie March back permanently too, but without Stabler and Benson, I’m gone.

  • Snarf

Both sides need each other. What it comes down to is who’s more willing to walk away. Verrrrrry interesting.

  • Samantha

If they replace Chris and Mariska, then I can safely say that I will no longer watch. Period. No ifs ands or buts about it.

  • Brody

Without Chris and Mariska, this show is dead, so the PTB should either give Chris and Mariska what they want, or they should cancel the show, because it won’t survive without them.

  • Giovanna

If NBC wants to make a great mistake, ok, let mariska and chris go… you can’t even figure out the devastating consequences of that for all the fans…

In typical GE fashion, lets outsource the work to a couple fine Indian or Chinese actors.

NBC is stupid. The network’s going to be going the way of the dinosaurs pretty soon if they keep this up. SVU is one of the few good things they’ve got and it’s all because of Chris and Mariska. I know I won’t be watching without them. Give them whatever they want. They deserve it.

If Mariska leaves, I’m done. SVU is one of my all-time tv favorites, and Mariska was the one who initially drew me to it and kept me watching. I really like Chris, but I wouldn’t be completely heartbroken (just a little sad…) if he left. I do think they should accept a pay freeze under this bad economy. It’s not worth losing the best gig ever, kids.

Just as the original “Law and Order” went and continues to go through personnel changes has survived and prospered, so can Law and Order SVU. For me it’s the story lines that makes these shows work, sure I have my favorites but I continue to watch even through the changes. In these times the folks should be happy they are getting work.

I watch the show because I like the actors (although CI is still my favorite). If they replace them I won’t watch anymore. I doubt many will. The thing that makes me mad is that Dick Wolf and NBC have SO much money and they still pull crap like this. They did the same thing to D’Onofrio and other CI actors when they wouldn’t give them a raise at the start of last season. Luckily they stayed. Who knows how this will turn out.

Duh…has NBC been in a coma for the last 10 years? On the other hand CM has contradicted himself by stating on his website ask Chris that he didn’t approve of the multi-million dollar contract back with AROD and Texas, it was not good for baseball On Alex Rodriguez’s $252 million baseball contract with the Texas Rangers: “God bless him. I don’t see how it benefits baseball” (Apr 4 2001). Now Chris, Luv you Hon but how does this benefit season 11 for SVU? PLEASE make it work…COMPROMISE.
GOD BLESS YOU CM & MH

(Isn’t Mariska Hargitay the only regular cast member on any of these procedural shows to walk away with an Emmy)
YES!! Plus she has gotten more Emmy noms than of any one actor in L@O history. The only one to Get a Golden Globe as well
