Jian Ghomeshi is very talented at his job. He isn’t just some “entertainment reporter.” Thorton is a jerk. He’s a talented guy as well, but I have a major deficit of respect for him now.
What a dork!
Poor Billy Bob, he just wants to be a musician. Only he took the Hollywood approach. I feel for the band members since he clearly stole the spotlight and kept it on himself for the entire interview. He just needs to get over the fact that he’ll always be known as an actor because that’s how people became familiar with is name and ugly mug. BTW there’s plenty to learn from Willie Nelson dude.
My opinion of Billy Bob, never high, has now sunk into the abyss. Rude, idiotic, untalented. I hope he fades into oblivion, or ends up hosting Tiny Talent Time — which would be a good marriage of his acting and music careers.
Well isn’t that BB just a pill. And those other three guys seemed real uncomfortable! Why they’re all acting like before the interview he threatened to kill their cats. Almost like they’re waiting for the guy to implode or even afraid of what he’s gonna do next. Guess they’re used to his ‘unique’ persona. I love when musical “artists” and communicators impose constraints on free speech and censor what can and cannot be said in their presence and in fact to them or tabled over the air. And hey, if you don’t like the audiences up here – suggestion… don’t come and take our money. Jian handled well, how he managaed to not bust out laughing; I give him credit. He must have felt like he was dealing with a pissy 4-year-old who didn’t get his nap.
I admit to being curious about his band after I heard a Dallas Radio Station interview them and they performed live and also played some cuts from the double album…After seeing Billy Bob on this video (his poor band looked mortified) I changed my mind about putting money in his pocket and buying the music.
This guy is a total self-indulgent idiot. How can he even compare himself to Tom Petty. The ONLY reason anyone cares about his stupid band is because he – Mr. entitled Movie Star is in it!
I KNEW Billy Bob wasn’t acting in Sling Blade. He probably doesn’t really play the drums – just beats them into mashed potatoes.
just another egomanic…. how boring (and abusive) can you get…

The host was incredibly gracious and remained calm while weathering the idiocy of Billy Bob. That Jian guy is a class act.
Nice work Jian. Personally, I’m not sure I’d have kept my composure as well as you dealing with this self-absorbed dullard.
Billy Bob Thornton should be ashamed of his behaviour. I find it hard to believe he wasn’t experiencing some kind of psychotic episode. Anyone in their right mind wouldn’t act in that disrespectful childish manner. I applaud the radio host for being so professional. Especially when Thornton insulted Canadians. I refuse to rent any of his movies or listen to any of his music. This will take a toll on his publicity in a negative way. Go get some medical help Thornton.
Gee, what a shock. Another stuck up jerk from Hollywood.
The interviewer did NOT ask him a single question about his acting career, he merely mentioned his acting/writing credits in the introduction of BB, to establish context. Like the interviewer said, it would have seemed odd, like the elephant in the room, for him not to acknowledge the fact the BB is known primarily as an actor. Jian is a good interviewer; I have listened to him on CBC many times, and his subjects often comment on his questioning “Wow, that’s a good question, let me think” and so on. If BB hadn’t been such a psycho the interview this morning might have been interesting, enlightening and could have brought a bigger audience to BB’s music. Now it has simply created a bigger awareness of BB’s inner psycho. The sooner BB gets away from all of the polite Canadians, the better for everyone. Let him go back to the USA where people throw things at him, which he apparently likes. HAHA
