Ratings: 'Southland,' 'Parks & Recreation' score decent debuts

Tags:

On a Thursday night when most shows — Survivor, Bones, In the Motherhood, Samantha Who?, The Office (which aired two new episodes), 30 Rock — were down from their season averages, CBS won the ratings race thanks, of course, to CSI. As for the evening’s much-publicized new programs, NBC’s cop drama Southland nabbed a respectable 9.7 million pairs of eyes in ER‘s old 10 p.m. slot. CBS’ limited-run Harper’s Island lost nearly 6 million viewers from its CSI lead-in, garnering 10.5 million folks, also at 10 p.m. And NBC’s Parks & Recreation drew 6.8 million people at 8:30 p.m., even though it followed an episode of The Office that had 7.2 million watchers and came before another Office that boasted 8 million viewers.
