I am sure there is more to this story than meets the eye, but if in fact TR has been whining regarding lack of screen time, I hope they do release him from his contract. I like George as a sidekick to the other character’s, but he just doesn’t have the charisma or interest to be a main character. If TR does leave the show of his own volition, I think he is making a huge mistake. Not everyone is leading man material – doesn’t mean he is a bad actor, it’s just that his particular personality type is not strong or interesting enough (in my opinion) to carry leading roles or story lines.
This is another example of biting the hand that feeds you. T.R. Knight will not have a great career after leaving this show. I love it when actors oversetimate their importance. Remember when Shelley Long left Cheers? Suzanne Sommers left Three’s Company? It boggles my mind that people squander amazing good fortune. It’s so rare for a television show or movie to really take off. Like the old guy who still talks about his glory days in high school, T.R. Knight is going to look back at his stint on Grey’s Anatomy as a career high and a generous paycheck. I doubt he will reach this level of success ever again.
Whatever goes on behind the scenes of this show is just plain strange. Knights character George has been severly underwritten this season. From a creative point of view it makes no sense as he’s the most likeable character on the program.
Actually the way they have juggled most of the characters this year is very uneven and at times has hurt the show. While I still think Grey’s is a good program but the behind the scenes drama will eventually hurt it creatively in the long run. Losing the George character completley would be bad for the show. Even Merideth Grey has been underwritten this season in favor of the character Little Grey!

Yet another ludicrous plot twist (George going to war?!). Yet another thing Knight can throw a hissy fit about. Yet another tantalizing publicity tidbit that will only make Shonda Rhimes richer … but let’s face it, recent episodes have been strong and George doesn’t really matter.
For T.R. is the best actor and the show and his character George is the most endearing, but his story lines had been garbage… I don´t blame him for wanted to be realease… but if George is out… so do I…I will no longer care about anyone in Grey´s…
It’s not a matter of T.R. just “whining” about his lack of air time. It’s also that he is under contract and cannot do other projects while waiting for his limited scenes. From my understanding, his point is “use me or lose me.” What’s wrong with that? He is a creative actor who wants to work. He is obviously not just interested in a paycheck. If the show won’t or can’t use him, he would rather move on. I do not fault him for this.
I think TPTB from Grey’s should be ashamed of theirselves. TR is a wonderful actor who deserves more than just playing Chief’s slave and show up for 1 or 2 minutes and epi. Especially seeing how Izzie’s doing, I would’ve expected to see much more of Izzie’s BFF. I’m not always a big fan of George, but I don’t want him gone.
GET RID OF TR AND GET A GOOD STORY LINE STARTED GREY’S HAS SUCKED THIS YEAR
The show is doing what every once good show does (don’t get me wrong- I still love it) but when an actor/actress gets popular or shoots to fame in movies etc they use that character to draw fans in and it usually ruins the shows ‘values + original direction’. I love Izzy but since becoming a near household name she is turning into the main character in the whole show. It is good that there are different stories between the characters that we can follow but they will have a hard time keeping it the show that we all fell in love with in the first place.
I agree with Jeff W- actors seem to think they are too good for something, leave the show that made them someone which usually annoys/upsets people who love the show and then they go on to be B or C grade celebrities-if that. Shonda should make him sweat it out, bring him back next season but involve him more- most people like George and he will feel more valuable. Good for the show, good for him – good for our entertainment fix
I agree with the person who said that Shonda Rhimes should have focused on the main characters. I miss the interaction between George, Izzie, Alex, Christina and of course Meredith Grey. I loved the character George. His storyline has been overlooked because of the overuse of “guest stars” and the “crossover” storyline with Private Practise. I will miss the actor T.R. Knight. I enjoyed his acting and wish that the circumstances were different.
LG of VA: Agreed, it’s not unreasonable for TR to say, “Use me or lose me.” No one like to be bored at work. I don’t know that he’s suffering from Shelley Long or David Caruso syndrome, I don’t know that he aspires to be George Clooney. Lots of actors don’t have leading man charisma, but still get the chance to do lots of interesting work. Steve Buscemi ring a bell?
Kill off George, bring Back Dr. Burk, worlds greatest heart surgeon. I’ve never gotten over him being fired over a few random remarks about T.R. Knight. I mean, it’s not like it wasn’t true. BBB (Bring Back Burk!)

Get rid of him, he is acting like a baby. He gets upset cause he is not in the spotlight right now. So what? It is a show about several people, not just him. He has been in the spotlight several times. Boo hoo for him….I am happy he is leaving!!!!
I really want George to be gone! I can’t imagine George marching off to war, but if he’s leaving I don’t really care how!
Get rid of Knight, his charm has worn off.
