Law & Order: Criminal Intent is temporarily merging half of its A and B Teams.

Kathryn Erbe has agreed to fill in for the very pregnant Julianne Nicholson while the latter is on maternity leave, sources confirm to me exclusively.

The move means that for the final four episodes of CI‘s current eighth season (premiering this Sunday on USA), Erbe will alternate between her current partner, Vincent D’Onofrio, and Nicholson’s new partner, Jeff Goldblum.

I love Kathryn Erbe in CI… she’s so underrated and taken for granted. I think it’s great she’s going to have more screen time and the opportunity to mix it up with a different partner. I have no doubt she’ll knock it out of the park.

and i agree about bringing in another actress that will only be around for four eps. it’s like musical chairs on that set. chris noth, annabella sciora, julianne nicholson, alicia witt, julianne again, now goldblum…if they had to bring in yet another new actress i think i might have to scream! it gets very annoying.
