Will 'Big Bang' go there with Penny and Sheldon?

Bigbang_lYou’ve been asking me, I’ve been asking myself, and finally, I’ve gone and asked Big Bang Theory executive producer Bill Prady: What the frak is the deal with Sheldon and Penny?

“We’re as baffled as Sheldon’s friends are by what his deal is,” never mind what his deal with Penny is, he says. “He doesn’t seem to have any interests that are particularly social, whether they are friendship ones or romantic ones.

“I will say this: In our season 2 opener, Sheldon was kind of shocked
when Penny casually acknowledged that the two of them were friends,” he
continues. “I think just for Sheldon and Penny to have what she will
acknowledge as a friendship is remarkable progress for him. She may be
the only friend he’s made in a while, so I think everyone’s going to
have to call that progress. Hoping for more may be way beyond
possibility.”

Note that Prady said “may be,” not “is.”

Also note that when Sheldon gets locked out of his apartment in the
April 27 episode, “The Vegas Renormalization” — Leonard, Koothrappali
and Wolowitz are, as the title suggests, in Sin City — the brainiac
shacks up with the girl next door. But what does it all mean,
especially in light of what Prady tells me in today’s AA about a potentially huge
advance
in Leonard and Penny’s relationship in the season’s last two
episodes?

“You never know,” he teases.

What do you think? Is BBT going to go there with Sheldon and Penny? Should they? Or would you be as heartbroken as Leonard? Comments below.
Oh, and if you’re going to submit your remarks in the form of a pie
chart or graph, please, jpgs only. Thanks. (Additional reporting by Andy Patrick)

They soooo shouldn’t go there. There is no romantic chemistry between Penny and Sheldon. Plus, eewwwwww, weird.

    • John

      Boooo On U!!!

      They Should ;)

  • Erin

I would watch it. We already call it the Penny and Sheldon Show.

    • Erin Sloan

I agree with you. Then again we have the same name….so….yeah…

  • Jake

It would never work, Sheldon is so not ready for a relationship and i’m sure it would break up his relationship with Leonard.

  • Jenna

I have been championing Penny and Sheldon for a while. WOOT WOOT!!

  • Ambee

As a girl who has a good best friend who is asexual, I hope they keep Sheldon that way. It’s quite clear Sheldon is beyond asexual- he doesn’t understand relationships in general- but I would be much happier if started being social, but kept his asexuality. There are very few true asexual characters on t.v.- but they definitely exist in real life (and are awesome people! I love my friend!)

I thought the guy from this week’s episode was hilarious.
Interaction between Sheldon and Penny is the highlight of the show, but turning it romantic doesn’t seem right.
    Forget Penny and Leonard too…please!!!

  • MSR

No, no, no. It can’t happen. There’s never been any sexual chemistry between the two unlike between Leonard and Penny.

  • C-RO

I think Sheldon is a 30 year old virgin. There’s no way he would ever know how to make a move on a girl like her…unless alcohol is involved, then we may have something…

  • Ashley

Penny and Sheldon have the best chemistry on the show, and are by far the most entertaining duo, they should definetly go there.

  • Kristina

The poor girl who plays Penny cannot act. It’s so sad.

    • Ben

seriously? what was the last t.v. hit show that you were a co-star in?

  • Mary

    No, no, no!
Sheldon and Penny must remain platonic friends. Over time, really close but platonic friends.
A romance between the two would ruin it for this fan!

  • Nickmaniac

True, there might not be romantic chemistry between Penny and Sheldon, but there’s PLENTY of chemistry between the two of them anytime they’re alone in a scene together. Not sure I want anything romantic to happen between them, but as far as buddy-comedy chemistry goes, these two have got it, above and beyond the other characters/cast members in the show. ;)

  • PeterBilt The Nature Boy

I am looking forward the episode with PeterBilt The Nature Boy and Penny hooking up. awwwwwwww yeah

  • Monica242

It would be a complete and total train wreck to put Penny and Sheldon together that way. However, I have known a train wreck or two, in the hands of good writers, to be absolutely HI-larious.
I’m fine with their current awkward, antagonistic friendship, to be honest; it’s one of the best aspects of the show. But if they go with a funny trainwreck, I’ll be along for the ride. If only to point and laugh, of course.

  • INES
