Will 'Big Bang' go there with Penny and Sheldon?

I have been thinking that Penny and Sheldon would be much more interesting than Penny and Leonard. I actually had thought I was watching a repeat this past week because I thought Leonard and Penny had both decided that the door had to close on that possibility and I was enjoying their real actual friendship developing.

please please please DON’T go there with penny and sheldon. i LOVE the leonard/penny will they or won’t they, sheldon and penny should stay friends and only friends.

Unfortunately I think that would be a jump the shark moment unless Sheldon had a crisis because he didn’t know what was happening.
BUT.
Does anyone remember the pilot where Sheldon and Leonard went to the high IQ sperm bank and it was implied that Sheldon was not asexual?

They already introduced a woman Sheldon could fancy and get down with – Leonard’s mother. Don’t you all recall the smitten smile he wore through the whole show? I was thinking then they were going to do something intimate beyond talking, doing the math or butchering a Red Hot Chili Pepper’s song. Heh.

For me personally, a Sheldon/Penny romantic relationship would be much more INTERESTING than Leonard/Penny. I mean, just think about the storylines possibilities alone. How will Sheldon get to that point? Why would he decides that Penny is a worthy companion? There’s much to explore, compared to the normal, straight-forward (and in another word BORING) romance between Leonard/Penny. It’s so been there, done that.
Sheldon/Penny could be a very unique & original coupling. Yes, it could also be disastrous if not done right, which I hope the writers are smarter than that.
